I do what the others do...

Also use them to store things in, like wrapping paper, etc. Hang them on hooks on the back of a closet or stash on a shelf with stuff in them. Using a Danier bag to take a lightweight gift to my mother this weekend....

Plastic bags are banned where I live - so I use all of my department store bags for groceries, taking clothes to thrift store, etc. I also take them with me to the store (where I originally got the bag) and use them over again for my new purchases!

I do as most of the ladies above do. I display one of two very nice ones on the top shelf of my closet, and fold and store the others in a larger one in the corner at the bottom of my walk in robe. I then use them to carry gifts, pack thrift store donations etc.

I use them to tote things to work, such as extra shoes, paperwork, etc. I leave a big one( from Brooks brothers) on the floor of my closet and put things that have to go to the dry cleaners in it. I use some of the small ones, the type you might get with cosmetics or jewelry, for my lunch. When they get ratty, I put them into the recycle bin. I shop,a lot so I always have some new ones!

I stash them to fill up with recyclables on garbage pick-up days.
You can send them to the CA counties where the stores don't give you bags for your purchases... One person's garbage can be another one's treasure...

I use mine the same as Laura. I have a stash of them in a closet. The number is slowly going down, though, since I carry a reusable shopping bag more often than not.

My nearest city is trying to ban plastic bags, without success. I should probably start hoarding those because I use them for holding the recycling! Target bags are the best; Petsmart bags are the worst -- they rip if you even look at them sideways.

i always tend to reuse them for various things but i also use reusables bags and don't shop too too often so i don't have an unreasonable number of them.

I try to recycle too!
Some work for lining my kitchen bin, some can go in the Recycling bin, and some I use for storage or to hold clothing going to the thrift store.

I use them to donate items to my local thrift store, but I keep special ones to display in my closet to remember the event (usually for launches or foreign stores). You can recycle them, just cut the rope off and throw into mixed paper. He one proviso is for coated paper, you can look many products up online for handling advice.

We can recycle them here. I try to remember to bring my canvas bags when I go shopping though, so I don't have the problem of what to do with paper carrier bags. I'm excellent at remembering my canvas bags for grocery shopping -- it has become a habit! -- but I think I'm only batting 50/50 with other kinds of shopping.

Due to local ordinance, the stores here have to charge for paper bags - no plastic allowed anymore - so a lot of people don't ask for them or bring their own bags. Thus they've become a bit of a treasured resource for me. (I still miss the plastic grocery bags because I used them as trash can liners. I used up the last of my old hoard earlier this year and was sad.)

I usually use them to take stuff to the thrift store, carrying presents to friends, etc., and recycle them when they start falling apart. Your local thrift stores may be happy to take them as well, to give out with purchases. I know ours do.

I have about 6 of them right now...nice big bags with rope handles. I feel guilty throwing them out but even I was willing to take them back to stores I doubt they could reuse them. I don't know if they are recyclable.

Any good uses? Or just throw them out?
