Ah, we just tried to make two bites at a cherry here Roxanna!:-) If you preffer all your lean pants relaxed (so do not have tighter ones) makes perfect sense! In fact this IS YOUR very OWN interpretation of "the long over lean" and is 100% good so!:-)

Thanks all for your smart comments! You are right - the shorts aren't really long over lean, and neither are these pants really since they are a bit relaxed - which is the silhouette I prefer on me. Maybe I change the name of this silhouette to 'fluid top over tailored pants' and/or 'fluid/oversized top over shorts'.

Absolutely love everything about number one and think it's crazy flattering too, I'm thinking the similar color top and bottom makes a big difference.

They all look like nice, easy summer outfits to me - although I wouldn't qualify the shorts outfit as long over lean but I understand your thought process there. I had to laugh a bit, because even the OTF pants aren't "lean" to me . I think I'll wear mine to work today - thanks for the idea

They all look good but I love the first look a lot - very breezy and summery, love the asymmetrical hem of the top and the casually cuffed bottoms.

Um, I love these and they are most definitely very flattering to my eye. I especially love the first one because that matching-set-esque column of colour look is so on trend right now. YLF!

Love nr 1/2 and 4, but to my eyes 3 does not qualify here(?). I had to think hard about if I do, and how I do this silhouette and think the most I do it is layering with a 3rd piece. As of a long cardi, jacket or gilet over:
1. fitted/tailored pants/white jeans and top.
2. midi tube/pencil with a top or
3. a knee length (not mini!)shift dress.
Usually coordinate colors to a column +contrast for the topper, or a kind of print+uni twin set on the upper side of my body.

The breezy cotton tops are fantastic. They say ‘summer’ and have a nice soft drape. Flattering!

Interesting! I like the first one a lot and the shorts are a great look on you, although I am not sure I would think of it as long over lean. My problem with long over lean on myself is that it can emphasize the disproportion between my narrower lower half and wider upper half. Asymmetry, diagonals, and pushed up sleeves help for me and I see that I like these tricks on you too even though we have different shapes . I like the pink and olive combination on you a lot but would be tempted to belt it just because you can!

I like the long top to be asymmetrical as yours are. It gives a suggestion of where the waist is and the leg line. This can also be accomplished with a semi tuck.

These are all flattering and simple summer looks. Definitely work!

I don’t often wear long over lean- for a while it seemed to be the dominant silhouette and I had to try hard to make it work on me.

I do wear slim fit jeans with a blazer regularly - I don’t know if that qualifies. And around the house leggings and a long cardigan.

Love the first outfit, becouse tonal <3. But also you are queen asymmetric hem! Bonus excellent stylish cuffing on your trousers. I'd say long over lean works perfectly when the tops have drape and asymmetry, and the trousers pockets and extra visual interest like with the cuffs. Nice!!

I don’t wear this silhouette often, too. When I do, I prefer narrow sleeves or scrunched. This is why I like the outfit in you photos #1&2 more than #3&4, although I like color combinations in all your outfits.

I think it’s a great silhouette for you. The shorts add an extra line not present with your pants, but they scream “summertime!”. The pants looks are all really nice. The last pic is my fave

Ok everyone, of you've been following along in my series of posts about silhouette to better organize my wardrobe, here is the second to last one.

I don't do long over lean much - especially not in summer - because I don't have many lean bottoms. I have moved away from leggings and jeggings, and I Don't wear straight leg pants in summer (except for athleisure) because it is just too hot and they are too fitted and uncomfortable.

So my long over lean looks all involve Lulu OTF pants or linen shorts (which I think of as long over lean because they show the leg line.)

I find this a hard look to pull off on me because it shortens the leg line and can make me look squat. But this year I was really into the oversized, breezy cotton top look and when I pair them with shorts, they are breezy for hot days and give me a break from my summer dresses. It's a very easy look that I wear as lot on hot days.

So to me this is JFE, But not a silhouette i looking to add to in my wardrobe beyond what I have now.

How do you wear long over lean?
