I once borrowed camouflage sweats and tee from DH. When he was pleasantly surprised to see me wearing it, I told him I had put it on so he wouldn't see me.

My husband is a minimalist, but now wears better fitting clothes in slimmer cuts (he's skinny) because of me. He is pretty adventurous with colors for his work shirts, but WILL NOT wear patterns as any kind.

This is funny, because, well... see my representative Finds.

I ask for his opinion but have kept things he doesn't like, including a jumpsuit he deemed "not sexy or something." Since it was for more for work, I didn't mind it not being sexy! Usually his critiques are more nuanced. Obviously, he loves anything that shoes my shape but I'm not too into clingy clothes.

My dad was the last and only man I’ve ever taken clothes (cashmere and fisherman’s sweaters) from. He was old world, knowledgeable about women’s things in the way only an old world gentleman can be (because men do all the shopping), and bought me my first Vogue.

Otherwise... *like* in high school, I sent my beau off with a long, very detailed list, with elaborate instructions on how shorts should fit, to his mother’s great delight. Lololol!

My husband is pretty fashion-unaware, which is great. But once in a while he comes out with an opinion.

Just last week, I wore this boden blouse, which I've worn a bunch but was never really sure about whether I liked enough. By the end of the day I had just about decided to pass it on. I was literally about to change and put it in the donate box, when he came in with a "nice shirt!". He never does this. I think he commented because it's a little outside my usual uniform, which is also maybe why I was conflicted about it. So, I'm keeping it and am seeing the nice things about it again.

(I love the slightly boho-vibe and the gathers at the wrists, which are so nice feeling and warm. Not as pleased with the ditsy print and colors, but another layer or scarf break that up.)

Your belt wearing story is adorable, Jess. Fab that you and hubs are stylishly aligned! Fun read.

My hubs Greg takes a GREAT interest in my style, and I couldn't be happier about it! He is my in-house fashion stylist, and truly the most important opinion that matters - other than my own because at the end of the day, I'm the one wearing the outfit.

We have VERY DIFFERENT styles:

Me: colourful, exuberant, bright, pattern-rich, flouncy, romantic, soft, adorned, shiny, light, dressy, high contrast.

Greg: monochromatic, dark, quiet, low contrast, neutral, matte, simple, casual, solid-rich, unadorned, industrial, hard-edged.

There is tremendous mutual respect for what each of us wants to wear and makes us happy. We wouldn't change a thing......

Our styles the same in these ways:

fashion sneakers, no heels, red shoes, clean lines, trendy-classics, polished, structured, lots of great outerwear and jeans, fun short haircuts.

Greg loves me in what he calls "cute pants and cuddly pullovers" so I have lots of those in my style :)

@Sal Thank you, I feel blessed that my Husband and I are so in tune with one another and I can borrow something of his if I need too :)
It’s ok if you don’t need to borrow anything from your husband often, but if you do tees or a coat are a nice choice.

@Molly Mac Thats a great idea, borrowing from a son or daughter if your DH has nothing you like or fits. ;)

@nemosmom DH borrowed sweaters are great loungewear, I use them for that purpose too. Lol @ the couch comment :D, was your Husband was probably just trying to help say it’s not your kind of style, because everything you post here looks fab on you :)

@Bijou That’s ok if you don’t borrow any of your DH clothing, but the fact you both can talk fashion is perfect as you can help one another when shopping together

My husband is fashion conscious and has a distinctive personal style, which is very different from my own. He is into TechWear and frequents sites such as Hypebeast and Grailed for fashion inspiration.

If it were up to him, I would be dressed like a character from The Matrix - if it were up to me, I would be Monica Bellucci's character, I think my husband would choose Trinity's style. Whilst there is not much cross over in our styles, he does appreciate how I dress and is often complimentary about what I am wearing.

The fact that we both enjoy fashion is common ground. I have never worn any of his clothing.

I have borrowed a couple of hubs' sweaters; I still wear them as loungewear. He never really comments on what I wear unless it's WAY out there from what I normally wear (like the blazer I bought he said looked like "Grandma's ugly couch")

My husband is straight up preppie-khaki pants, golf shirts, and button downs. While I have a little preppi in me, I am not inclined to borrow anything from him as his clothes don't fit me at all. I have been known to borrow a sweatshirt or jacket from one of my boys:)

I have borrowed tee shirts over the years from DH but rarely- the occasional raincoat or hat though.

I’m curious, how many of you have borrowed clothing to wear from your SO and what were they?
Also, has your SO expressed any particular interest in certain things you wear, what are they?

Once in a while I will borrow something of my Husbands; usually a hooded sweatshirt, sometimes a men’s belt, and a pair of his slim-straight jeans.
One time he accidentally put on a pair of my bootcut jeans and on him they looked like slim fit men’s and it wasn’t bad looking at all! ;)

My Husband has told me he especially loves how I look in dark rinse skinny jeans, how the jeans show off my figure and body curves more than other kinds of jeans. I used to have a yellow dress he liked too but it no longer fits me.
My Husband also likes when I wear a belt. If we are standing next to one another he frequently will come up behind me and subtly place his hand around my waist and rest his fingers on my belt or in the belt loops and gently pull me closer to cuddle or just to be close to me ❤️ I like wearing belts anyway, but since my Husband especially likes how they look on me it makes me want to wear them more often for him too.
Lingerie is another favorite but that’s a given
