I thought about this quite a lot and found that I had a hard time. I don't think I've been actively working at being stylish long enough to say, and I enjoy incorporating new trends each season. But reflecting on my style preferences from when I was younger through today there are a couple things that have remained consistent:

- color (I've always loved wearing color, and wearing interesting combinations especially)
- the idea of experimentation (I have always liked experimenting with my outfits)
- styling my skin/face/hair in a natural and organic way (minimal makeup, light hair styling relying mostly on cut)
- the influence of 70s fashion (my other influential decades, 40s/60s/80s, have varied over time in how much or how little they're represented, but the 70s have always been present)

That's about it. Ask me again in 10 years

Short hair. (Why did I every grow it out??) But the particular cut will change over time.

Jackets. (Why did I stop wearing them for so many years?)

And Una, that hairstyle of yours is definitely iconic!

i don't know if this is specific enough but I *need* contrasts like mixing classic pieces with vintage and/or some rough elements. i'm also thinking contrasts structure wise, like combining tailored with a softer element. too polished and ladylike feels very unfamiliar to me

ETA: maybe dark hair is more of a signature feature? sometimes I've had highlights or coloured stripes, but the main feature still remain as dark

I didn't respond to this thread yesterday because I really had to think about the question. I'd say my "signature" look, if you can call it that, is:

*wardrobe consists of subdued, elegant colors
*wardrobe consists of some trendy items mixed with classic styles
*easy hairstyle above shoulder length
*always wear jewelry and a wristwatch
*almost always wear makeup

I too love your hair =)

I think my curly dark hair and bright colors are a signature part of my look.

Everything else will switch up. I have had different color highlights and even different cuts but I refuse to bother with straightening my crazy thick hair and I'm not likely to go a lot lighter.

There are probably several things, but the first one that comes to mind is classic clothes + artsy jewelry. I like simple clothes.... think of the MOTG formulas in a classic, simple style.... but I love jewelry that might be sold at an art show. I always have that sort of a piece on me somewhere.

I adore your hair cut and totally agree that it makes for a rockin' signature part of your look!

Bangs have become a part of my signature look. I've worn them off and on for years, and have had them consistently for over a year now. Whether my hair is up or down, straight or curly, those bangs are ever present. I don't think any of you have ever seen me without them.

Also earrings are a signature part of my look. Sometimes I'll go without a necklace and I only recently got into bracelets, but if you see me without earrings you can be sure it was a mistake. If I'm rushing in the morning and don't have time to put them on I'll throw them in my purse or pocket and put them on in the car.

I'm never without earrings, so that's a big signature look for me.

Bright pencil skirts. In fact, bright bottoms in general, including white jeans.

Fun shoes, especially high-heeled patent leather pumps in every color of the rainbow.

Jackets with everything!

I'm loving them all, although recently I have started to actually consider foregoing the a-jacket-for-the-sake-of-a-jacket look as an ironclad rule.

I don't know, I thought it was waist defining bombshell looks but I have been totally surrending my waist with tunics for months now, since the Feb NYC meet up where I bought my Zara button down tunic.... I guess the only thing consistent is my Kors watch (which I don't LOVE but wear because it finishes outfits so nicely) and my newly reset engagement ring because it turned out so fricken fab. Everything else feels subject to change - style evolution is happening for me big time right now. I don't want to wear heels. I don't want anything tight. How to look long and lean and still define my waist without really wearing anything that makes me longer or defines my waist at all?

I think my greying hair is signature for me. Even though it will change and get more silver, I'm enjoying the transition. I love how I can run my fingers through it and see all the colors of a Husky dog's fur! *waving to Kona*

My hair style is definitely the most constant part of my style signature. I have worn a bob in a number of variations since I was about 20. also red lipstick and the color black. All constants in my style for a long time and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I guess I'd call my curls a constant if not a signature. My hairstyle changes pretty drastically every few years... but I never knew how much I depended on the wave in it until a particularly, uh, 'enterprising'? thick-skinned? stylist straightened my hair out for a magazine photo shoot. I have never hated my appearance and felt as alienated in my own body ever before, nor ever since. And this despite envying many friends their stick-straight waterfall of hair and lamenting my nonstop tangles!

Likewise my angled, mismatched, not very 'feminine' eyebrows. I get majorly ticked off when someone at the beauty salon tries to 'curve' them 'prettily'.

The other bit of 'look' that has been a constant for me for now 18 years is the single earring I wear in pierced right upper lobe (the left counterpart closed up almost immediately and rejected the piercing) --- what I wear varies from pearl studs to silver barbel or ring, nothing unconventional enough to call a signature; but the asymmetry is itself unconventional and was even more so when I first got it (single pierced ears are more common now than they were in my youth). Tangential: Actually, I've always enjoyed ear jewellery asymmetry, I guess. Even the standard love piercings used to get mismatched studs often in my youth, less so now perhaps (largely as I've been having trouble finding 'my style' studs of late, not sure why).

Lipstick, in terms of make-up, is the one thing I'm hardly ever without. Eye make-up I do often forgo.

Clothes --- I'm not sure I have a signature look there, unless it is midi-length skirts and wide-ish leg pants, which I've never been without. But they aren't quite constants.

My shoulder-length stick-straight hair is part of my look, whether I like it or not. I wear it pulled into a pony tail or bun when I'm working and going for my more classic looks.

I love your haircut! The last picture of you in that new consignment store "shorter" dress looked so beautiful -- your hair, your smile, the way you look so happy with your son. It showed me a whole new side of you. (Not that there's anything wrong with your trademark sidewards glancing looking down a little pose.)

Fun thread!! Love it

My long hair has been with me from the time I can remember, so maybe that's my signature look in hairstyle.

About clothes skinny jeans, ballet flats and boots have always been in my wardrobe no matter what trend come or go. So may be they are my signature look in fashion.

And lastly, I have kohl lined eyes (with and without lip gloss/ additon of blush/ nailpolish etc), for every occasion-wedding, nightout, office, casual outings, picnics, day brunches, dinner, birthday celebrations (anything), so may be that's my signature look in makeup.
