Peri you look so good in solid brights like these. Keep them! Why don't you order the blue one in a small and then you will have two to compare before sending one back. That's what I do.

I really dig the hemline of the red sweater!

Both sweaters are gorgeous on you--wow!--and I like them both with the black pants. In photos 5 and 6 the silhouette is very attractive; for me it works nicely because of the narrowness of the pants at the knee. You look sleek, chic, and relaxed. The fit of the blue sweater looks just right to me, too.

Wow, Gaylene...thanks! Really, I'm not trying to put myself down...I just meant that a lot of my style decisions are based on what I can tolerate, rather than what is the most fashionable or correctly styled. So I mean I can't go by looks first as some of my style idols can, but I want to look the best I can given those limitations. I like what you said about balance...that's what I have to try for. Thanks for the big boost though! (PS, check your messages!)

And Beth Ann, yes, you remember right! Fellow musicians. You for sure know the job requirements!

Peri, cut the tags. This relationship deserves to get off the ground!

As I suspected, the sweater looks quite different with your pants when you are standing up in a regular way rather than posing to show the width of the flare.

I think it looks great on you, and you should wear it with confidence and pride.

Not a stunning woman???? Peri, you might want to consider getting your vision checked :)

Seriously, you look great in both these sweaters and ought to rip off those tags ASAP. Different people have different aesthetics, as Angie is constantly trying to drum into our heads. Dressing well involves balancing our physical shapes and needs with our personal vision of what makes us look and feel attractive. Being physically, or psychologically, uncomfortable is never attractive.

I just figured out I need a lower rise even though I have a looooong rise. Anything that touches my stomach at all annoys me immensely. Occasionally it kills me so I need 8 inches or less. And no polyester.

Oh yeah...we were talking about you! So I think it fits your style descriptor and you should cut the tags!

Thanks Shannon, AviaMariah, Greyscale and mtgirl. I think it does look okay, even if not the most obvious combo. Still mulling.

Mtgirl, my style description is casual arty classic. I think it definitely fits. The pants are from NY and Company. So I'm putting my most expensive sweater with my least expensive pants. Funny. I bought Tall, even though I am not, and had them hemmed. That way I get a longer rise...new little trick I have learned.

I think both sweaters are fantastic. The fit on the blue one looks good to me - I guess it's just a question of how it feels and if you'll find yourself pulling at the sleeves all day or something.

I'm currently loving big drapey tops with boyfriend jeans. I don't remember if loose jeans work for you but I don't think skinny pants are the only thing that goes with big tops.

Gaylene, you are my favorite. The rest of you.... :)

I've posted before about the skinny stuff, really hate to be that graphic again. It is partly shoes and partly just that I can't be squeezed at this time. That's all I can stand to say!!

But, the pants really are as Carter says and Suz wondered. They are pull on ponte and really look pretty slim until they flare to a mini boot. I was trying to show the leg on purpose...maybe I will try another more normal picture, straight on.

Suz, I look awful in that much of a wide leg. I'm 5'5" but long torso, short legs...just looks so bad.

Alaskagirl, thanks, I was hoping you would see. I do have very wide shoulders also.

Well, I appreciate everyone's honesty. It would be an expensive mistake to make. I will try for another picture if I can get the angle right.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in the red sweater, it looks more towards orange here in the picture than it actually is. It is a gorgeous true red.

Yay! I am wearing mine again today - I love it so much and I get mad compliments on it at work. I have only worn mine with skinnies. What is the health concern with them for you (if you can say without saying)? Because I would wear this with leggings also, and today I am wearing the amazingly comfy Kut ponte jeggings which are stretchy comfy warmth personified.

I love both colors on you! Please keep - I know it will be a workhorse for you.

Oh and I sized down to XS. The difference for me was in the width of the body of the sweater, not the shoulders (but I have big shoulders!). Much more flattering sized down but still plenty of room.

Well, I'm going against the other opinions here because I think both sweaters look fabulous with your boot cuts. The skinny bottom (especially when tucked into a tall boot) has been the go-to alternative for looser sweaters for so long I think your choice to style the volume on top with a touch of volume on the bottom looks much more fashion forward and interesting. I'd give this a big thumbs up.

Hmm. Crazy thought....what about wider legs...true wide legs. Volume on volume up the kazoo? I mean... what's to lose just trying it on?

For instance, check out this pin from Angie's board: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/18577417184426868/

And here's another: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/18577417186880284/

Granted, this particular love interest sweater might be too long for those looks. So you might have to switch up what you mean by "volume" or "interest." But if you can't do skinnies, you might still be able to do wide legs. I know they are problematic without a heel, but can you do a flat-form (or similar) -- heck, even clogs could go under wide legs and nobody would be the wiser. And it is a killer contemporary modern look -- and you are fine boned and slender enough that with the right proportions, you could carry it off.

Beautiful saturated color. I wouldn't size up on either. I do think they would "go" better with a slimmer pant. What about a baby boot cut or straight pant. They might work with a fitted midi skirt like the VC tube skirt.

So, the cashemere v-neck from Nordies brand is a keeper for sure. I tried it too, so I know the cashemere is soft. I would have kept it if it would've looked like that on me!!

As for the blue, I love it but I am not sure you can style it into heavy rotation without skinnies. It sort of begs for skinnies with the lovely drape.

Both colours are lovely on you!

I do think you need to try skinner pants -- I know you feel that your footwear means you have to wear bigger trousers, but I don't think that is the case...just a nudge from me :)

Wow, what gorgeous sweaters and so vibrant on you, Peri! I'm in love, too.

How do the shoulders on the Joie feel? For myself, I wouldn't mind the slightly too short sleeve because I always scrunch- push up my sweater sleeves indoors. Especially with a looser garment like this, it gives a bit of structure. But you don't want to feel cramped.

To be completely truthful, I'm not sure it is the absolute best look with the boot cuts...But, you are also posing in a way that make the pants look fuller than they look when you are standing still in real life (or even walking) -- you don't normally angle your leg to show the width of the bottom of the pant, in other words. And so I suspect these would be just fine with it IRL.

Meanwhile, you must keep the Halogen - it's a no brainer. Simple, yet nice details that make it a bit special.

With Alaskagirl's Joie sweater.

Backstory...I wanted a grey sweater, and I'm wanting things that are not standard. Someone linked Alaskagirl's and I loved it but thought it was out of my budget. So I found two grey sweaters decent quality for very much less.

Then it went on sale...sort of. It is still most I've paid for any single item. It bothered me a lot! I already had grey but I ordered blue, just to see. I was half hoping not to love it. Maybe the bright blue would be less elegant. Maybe it would be too heavy for my weather.

Sigh. The blue is perfect, on the soft side of cobalt, one of my favorite colors. It is warm but not heavy. I love it. And to be clear, the price doesn't hurt the checkbook, only my conscience.

Every love story has the potential for heartbreak. I do not wear skinnies. For boring health reasons they are rare occasion only for me. Same for skirts. The picture is with the sleekest pants I have. I cut my head off so you could see the bottom. Does this work with slim boot cuts? I can't have the most expensive single item I've ever bought be rare occasion wear only. It has to be okay for heavy rotation or we will have to break up.

Other question...this is XS. The sleeves are snug and very slightly too short. The shoulders are very slightly not to the edge of mine. If I sized up to S, would that be too much volume?

Just to make the post look like superman, I've added the other thing I ordered, Nordstrom brand cashmere. Pretty sure it's a keep, but you can tell me if I should size up to M for more oversizedness.

Thanks!
