Gryffin, you're right that blasting heat is better than the alternative! I tend to run cold. But it also makes it hard to sleep at night. I have to remember to open the window a bit before bedtime so as to get things down to a manageable level.

I'm doing better today...managed to get up at eleven instead of one. Argh. Hope you're doing better too!

Gigi - so to hear you are sick too. Sinus infections are pure misery!! So painful. I hope you are feeling better soon!! Wow, my first apartment was loike that!! Unlimited blasting heat. It was heaven. It was the only time I did not spend winter looking like a snowman in all my layers. At least it's usually easier to cool down at this time of year than heat up. Hope you are at the perfect level of warmth. Yes, nonconstricting, definitely a key to whatever comfort can be had!!

Hey...I feel your pain. I have a sinus infection. Got up at 1 in the afternoon today. Ugh.

My "sick" capsule is basically whatever isn't constricting. I usually have a problem staying warm, but today it is unseasonally warm outside, plus my apartment has a hard time regulating heat (it gets darn hot in here, and I can't figure out why). So I change what I wear each time I am sick, depending on what the temp and humidity feel like.

Hope you get better soon!

Angie - agreed. These are the most extraordinary pups I have ever had. I am their object. So they follow me everywhere. Knightley is the snuggle cuddle bug, Emma is the voracious kisser. I am very blessed to have such wonderful companions!!
Linda - wow! I am so very sorry to hear about your trouble!! No water is a total bear. But snow, shoveling and cold on top of it. Well that is just total misery. When we renovated our home we were living in our house with our 4 dogs. They had just broken through the exterior wall when there was an unexpected cold snap. The pipes froze the first weekend and we could not get the house above 45 deg , my son was 5 yo and and there was no where to go with our dogs. So I really empathize with your situation. I will have fingers and toes crossed for you that the repairs get done tomorrow!! Big cyber hugs!! Hang in there!! Beaming wishes for hot showers, flowing taps and spring melt very soon!!

Not sick, here, but a little sick-at-heart. We are on a well and our well pump sprung a leak. Great timing it has, it sprung the leak mid-snow storm. We've been digging out (we live on a private drive off a state road) since then, dealing with a tiny bit more snow but really cold temps, and virtually no water. Since we have house cats, no hotel room stays for us.

I did try dressing up a little to cheer myself up, but by now with as much snow-shovelling as I have been doing, I'm stuck with very un-YLF garb, but functional stuff. I CANNOT wait to do laundry and get showers and have the humidifiers running once again! (Repairs will hopefully get done tomorrow -- our guy had to special order the pressure tank.)

Sorry to those who are sick and I hope you are on the mend real quick. And that you don't lose water or any other utility meanwhile! We are worshipping the water cooler we have for just such water emergencies, but I suspect a tiny drop may be worse in some ways than none at all!!

My sick wear depends a lot on whether I have a fever or not. If I just have a sore throat/cold thing, I try and get myself up and about and dressed in regular street wear. It seems to help me to feel better. If I'm (rare) hit with a flu or something confining me to bed, I just wear something cozy, and don't pay a whole lot of attention, I guess, to what it is. I get more concerned about the number of blankets, the thermostat, and so on. I DEFINITELY make sure to wear my slippers if I DO have to get out of bed when sick! In bed, my feet stay warm but walking about can get them chilly. Oh, and I try to avoid the mirrors until I feel better!!

Debra - thank you! Good wishes most appreciated!
Jill - I am going to have to check into this. I was rolling when I read "marinating on HIgh" I didin't think anyone else used that term in the same way. Yup, that's my favorite thing! Love the dual control idea. Such a fab idea!!
JAileen - you know normally I love a scorching bath or shower but when I'm sick I get really lightheaded and nauseated (probably all from getting slightly dehydrated and then bath/shower brings all that blood to the skin) so that does not work for me. If you don't get that issue then I can't think of anything that would feel better!! Love hot water, as the bill will attest to!!
Rachy - I love those hospital gripper socks. But I never thought of them as "sickness socks" I usually put on thorlos since they are really thick and soft. But I could see how they would really do it for you!
Amy - I think your list sounds fantastic. It certainly sounds divinely warm. I definitely need fleece. After all, who needs a summer wardrobe...the snow is never going to melt anyway...fleece, I need fleece!!

JillG - I have never heard of such an amazing invention. A heated mattress pad? Blanket yes, but pad, wow heat rises. That sounds so amazing. My husband will freak at the thought as he's always hot and bless his heart he usually does space heater detail but cuddling is not good when you are sick and don't want to share. But I just can't think of anything more awesome. Thanks for that amazing idea!!
Alaskagirl - I am clearly behind on fleece wear!! Polar fleece pants sound truly fab. I have no idea how I've survived without fleece. I've gotta go google and see what fabulous really warm permutations I've been missing. Thanks, that sounds like a fantastic idea!
Sara - you know I didn't think of thermals either. For someone that runs cold this has really been illuminating. That's a great idea.
Suz - no surprise that the leggings and sweats are definitely black!! Old bathrobe, which is ancient, is dark brown/black plaid. But actually, on Parsley and Angie's advice, I just bought a new Barefoot dreams Cozy Bathrobe in marine blue (okay it did not come in black, gray or that great midnight ombre of the blardigan). So I still have a couple of blue pieces kicking around ;-). Stretch is good and another vote for thermals. That is such a awesome idea. I do have to find some. Such a practical and great idea that I never take the time to find. must put that the "list!!" I have the doggy spaceheater - the advantage of larger sized snuggly mammal!! They are the best!!
Joy - thank you, I am finally feeling a bit better today. Nothing like sweats when you are sick. Soft, warm and not tight. I did like the ideas of thermals and fleece with sweats too. I'm thinking the lounge wear capsule may need embellishment!! Stay warm and well!!

I'm sorry that you are feeling so miserable, and hope that today is better.
Sick days are the one time that I wear sweats and should probably be looking for a new pair.

So sorry you are under the weather, gryffin!

Now, may I assume that all your swaddling layers are stylish grey and black? :)

When I'm sick, I wear my yoga pants or my thermal base layer, along with cozy fleece or sweaters. And I try to ensure my cat is snuggling near me. Best "hot water" bottle ever.

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. I also put on my comfiest, warmest clothes. Usually sweats and a thermal top that I can layer a sweatshirt over if needed.

DH and I bought a heated mattress pad this winter. We turn it on about an hour before bedtime and - combined with the down-filled comforter and flannel sheets - everything is toasty warm when we climb in. This is the first time in years that I haven't needed my wool bed socks.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
