We using the same one as last time, and told him we wanted the same tile guy who did a great job. The bathroom we redid last year was over 50 years old. The one we're planning on replacing now is only 15 years old. </p> <p>I definitely recommend Houzz.com. I went through at least 125 pages of pictures of small bathrooms. For some unknown reason I still can't access Pinterest. One sink doesn't work, there's a hole in the wall in the shower, fluorescent overhead lighting, the fixtures are bad 80s brass tone... We've waited so long! The trouble is, I know enough about interior design to be dangerous. I have some training but I worry I don't have enough experience to think of all the best design ideas on my own. Hence my procrastination. It's a bit of a tricky space too, not very big, with angled ceilings, a skylight, and a beam running through it. Our style is quite contemporary, but I don't want anything cold or dark. Good light is a necessity! I think once my husband retires we might be able to go.</p> <p>Helen, I've heard of people in Hawaii and other warm places having outdoor showers, so I guess I was thinking of a hot water faucet out in the yard, rather than next to the house. In our climate, high desert, we have to irrigate everything. But in winter, everything outdoors is shut down to prevent freeze damage. </p> <p>Everyone thinks tomato juice to get out skunk. We use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. We keep those items plus a dedicated bowl under the sink in the bathroom. I used to work at a small regional uni campus and I'd see them in the morning on the oval. I have a difficult/impossible time cleaning the shower pan, the metal tracks, and the glass doors. We're putting in a tub and plan on a shower curtain, which can be laundered or tossed. We're putting in the same shower head on a hose. It's perfect for bathing dogs!</p> <p>I love the style of your door handle. I prefer modern hardware too. We went for a modern Italian mixer tap and modern handles etc. You can see the door handles. I wanted a modern rain type shower head but hubby did not like that so we settled on an adjustable one that can be used both ways. I thought about a timber vanity but because the bathroom is small with no windows I was worried about lack of ventilation leading to moisture damage. But I really like the warmth of timber. I was very influenced by the blog of Maria Killam - a Canadian colour consultant. I wanted all white but not too modern. Our house is over 100 years old. Houzz likes to call it transitional style. I do intend to add colour (yes, I can do it!) with towels, pictures and other decor when we are finished. I am happy with the subway tile and how it ties in with my kitchen (which also has subway tile). I also like the old fashioned herringbone floor (my idea, you can't get it here so I had to have big tiles cut down to achieve it). In hindsight I wish I had gone for a warmer colour bench top on the vanity. I love your hex tile and would have done the same but my dh vetoed it.
