Firecracker, #7 & 8 look gorgeous on you! Lovely lines for your face. My favourite.

Kari, #3 looks so striking, yet harmonious, with your hair, eyes, and jacket. What a great colour combo!

These are some of my favourite frames. Luckily, I have no particular problems with my eyes. Am just a bit far-sighted, and need reading glasses only. So I can choose among many inexpensive ones and have discovered which styles suit me best. Colourwise, I love to coordinate my frames with some other item in my outfit.

It was SO fun specs shopping that day. I loved the frames that she came back with, too!
So even most of the "wide" specs don't fit me right. The eyes might be centered but I'm also really wide at the temples, and always have been. I need frames that are quite wide apart from the temples to the center of the arms. I have compromised on specs that were just a bit too narrow before, and really regretted it. (Then they have to manually shape the arms to compromise for my crooked ears, haha! My head isn't at all symmetrical.)
It is VERY hard not to go for the same type! I would do that if I were replacing a worn out pair, but since my eyesight stabilized within the last 7 years, I can keep going on the same prescription for a long time with very little change. That along with wearing glasses most days was what pushed me into the high end market. If I'm going to buy one pair and wear them every day, I want them to be made well and also be extra special. As long as my current frames are in good shape, I can be really choosy about introducing any new pairs into my life, or not!

Kari, your glasses all look fabulous on you, and they are so different. I think it can be hard not to go for the same basic idea time and again. Thank you for your kind words about specs shopping with me! I guess the grass looks greener. . . . I would have guessed you had lots of options, with all the frames that I find too wide! We had fun finding frames for Una/AlaskaGirl when she visited Seattle, didn't we?

binkie, I'm another fleur de lis fan, and love those glasses! Wow.

Staysfit, what an enviable collection. You can pass them on to me when you're done! Those colors, the shapes, and I share your affinity for translucents and mixed-tones (or tortoise effect).

JAileen, those are two fun pairs of rounded cat-eye frames. And shades of silver/gray--of course!

Wow Staysfit!! That's an awesome collection. My glasses (well lenses alone) so uber expensive I can never afford more than one pair at a time. So I get transition lenses so I have on sunnies. But that's fantastic. So envious!!
Jaileen - that's interesting I just got a catalog from eyebobs and I thought they were very stylish. I didn't think they even made "glass" lenses any more! So much for my knowledge. They are very pretty! But I really love your birding glasses. Way too fab to forget about them. They are gorgeous!!

I wear reading glasses. While I get prescription sunglasses, I usually buy reading glasses at CVS or Walmart. These are Eyebobs that I bought when we were in Texas this spring. I love the frames, which are a matte silver finish. They fit perfectly, but are kind of heavy. I think the lenses are actual glass.

ETA: I forgot about these glasses. Theo. They are prescription for birding and driving at night. Matte grey on the outside, bright green on the inside. They hardly weigh anything.

Kari - those are all gorgeous frames! I did not realize how interesting the first pair temples are. Truly spectacular!! Gosh we have the opposite problem - I trolling the kiddies section. Extremes don't have it easy but you manage to find truly unique and special frames. Firecracker does look marvelous in all her frames. I guess an abundance of riches is very problematic too. For me it's more, ok what does not look horrible, what looks ok, please something that looks good, please!!! Enjoy all your gorgeous frames!!
binkle - I am so jealous!! I love fleur de lis!! I used that motif in my kitchen and house as an accent!! I am coveting those frames!! Can you still get a back up pair?

These are my all time favorites, purchased in 2009 and worn consistently until this year, when I got a new prescription and new frames. I will probably get new lenses for them after cataract surgery later this year.

I think most of you saw my specs on my recent thread. I wear glasses nearly every day (aside from my recent stint back into contacts) so it's important to have specs that are well made and mesh with my style. I like how they open a window into my face and can make me feel fun even if I'm having an off day. Moreover, I need a very wide frame, with wide field of vision. I don't usually have too many options in my size so I wait for a really amazing one, decide if it's truly raising the bar, and go for it.

Here are details:
1-2 Alain Mikli, Most recent pair, cateyes, purple titanium, black plastic arms, blue and gray "wings" at the temples
3-4 Face a Face, A pair I got at the start of 2015. Emerald green plastic, white inner frame, black geometric print over clear plastic arms
5-6 Orgreen, A pair I got in 2011. Titanium with racecar inspired cutout detail, bronze and chartreuse. I don't wear these as often now but still love them.

Wow there are some great frames here. I am due to update my prescription soon. I give my current pair about 7/10. I like the dappled black and see through effect to soften them, and I think my strong features need a strong-frame, but my colouring suits a medium intensity frame.

When I update I know where to come for help:)

It's fun to see some of our favorite frames here. So many blue and red ones!
Lisa, you look great in your glasses--so chic and a bit edgy, they really suit your style as well as being flattering.

My favorites are by Face a Face, deep blue or eggplant on the front, and aqua on the sides; I actually hired Angie to help me pick out frames a few years ago, and these are the ones I got (pics 1 and 2)

I've gotten two pairs of frames since then, to add variety. First addition was the metal pair, by Lindberg, blue across the top with matte silver-gray on the sides and bottom edges (pics 3 and 4). I feel like these may be close to "drooping" or at least aren't quite lifting enough.

Second addition, this past fall, is a pair of brown and pearl tortoise frames by Warby Parker, called Olive (pics 5-6).

Some frames I had before these three, and which I wear extremely rarely but still like, somewhat: a pair by Kala, in eggplant with very light blue inside (pics 7-8).

Suz - thank you, you're a sweetheart as always!!
Meredith - that's great that you've been able to figure out what works for you!! I love both pairs, I love the vibrance of the colors, so fun. I've worn frames that I loved that weren't necessarily the best fit. If you love them rock them!! Super fun and stylish!
Elizabeth - beautiful frames and I love the play of colors. Interesting and elegant! You were smart. If you find frames that fit and you love them buy immediately!! Otherwise.....shudders. Smart girl!!
Deborah - I would never have guessed because you wear a statement frame so well. All you frames are gorgeous and so flattering. I love the ones you have. Can't wait to see the round ones that you select!!
Bijou - I am so out of touch I did not know that Tiffany made frames!! Let alone such beauties! I do get better vision with contacts but I don't wear them. My eyes are dry and I find them uncomfortable. Good for you that you can use both. But the glasses are gorgeous! Not a hardship to wear anything that lovely!!
Ryce - I love rimless glasses. I think the choice is to showcase you (a very subtle frame) or to use frames as an accessory. They may not be the popular frame this year, but they always look great, and the time will turn and they will be the ne plus ultra of style again soon. Alas I am not allowed rimless, my lenses are too thick and not of even in correction so even a partial rim is discouraged. So I admire from afar. I love rose frames you have. Very soft, lovely, elegant. If you have pink or blue undertones I would think they would make your skin just glow. Such a lovely choice!!

Glasses frames are so hard! My fashion fantasy is to someday travel to Seattle and engage Angie to help me find the perfect pair!
Your news ones are very attractive, gryffin. Good plan to purchase a duplicate now!
I have a pair of Lindberg titanium rimless that are supremely comfortable and lightweight. The temples and bridge come separately in multiple sizes and the lenses are custom cut. The result is a perfectly fitting pair of glasses. Though not particularly fashionable.
Last year I got the pictured Lunor A5 600 in Rose. They are a touch smaller than "average" 49 15 140 and fit pretty well. They are also a touch thinner than most frames in this style, which is more comfortable on my face.
I still prefer contacts for working out and social occasions, but I get better vision correction with glasses.

I have the Tiffany Atlas frames and love them. I like the black front and tiffany blue at the back - it makes them a bit more delicate than a solid black frame. My script is very strong and so I prefer to wear contact lenses, as they are more comfortable for me to wear than specs. However, my specs are lovely and so I do enjoy wearing them.

They are a lovely frame and I can imagine you wearing them. I have the same small head problem and agree with your analysis. I have two pairs I'm wearing at the moment and I am planning on adding a pair of black round frames this year. I have decided my best shape frame is round.

I have many of the same issues as you, gryffin. My prescription is not strong nor complicated, but I have a narrow face, and many frames are just too wide, or my eyes aren't situated in remotely the right spot. I did however find two frames I loved when I recently got my eyes checked, and bought both of them, just because I know how hard it usually is to find anything. I am so excited to have glasses I know look good!

The second pair is in the colours of the third picture.. couldn't find the right colour online.

Your frames look very elegant, Gryffin. I have a really hard time too and unfortunately the people who work at the optometrist shops around here are not well-trained in fit. Through trial and error and a little feedback from the forum I've learned I need wide frames, a relative straight shape on the upper part of the frame, and possibly a low nose bridge. I ended up "settling" a bit this time around because I needed something urgently. The blue frames were a better overall fit, but I fell in love with the red and I think they're JFE.

Those are lovely, Gryffin, and I can easily imagine how great they must look on you. I see what you mean about the proportion/ scale -- they make a statement without being too much or too harsh.

In a word, glasses shopping is one of my most stressful times. A small face and head, small deep set eyes and a super high powered complicated prescription which requires a fair amount of surface area and a very good lab to make. So I feel limited to the in house optician at my ophtho because the right script is most important. Also needing child sized glasses but wanting adult quality, well it's a nightmare. My brilliant optician found these frames from coach. Temples up with lift, pretty side pieces, right size, accommodate the prescription check, frame color, a rich tortoise with gold and red undertones in the light, that flatters my coloring and features, follow the brow line (most important Angie tip), sophisticated and serious - it's a miracle (and yes, I bought a second frame as back up!!) Lastly, for people with small faces and small deep set eyes, if you center your eyes in the frame they will be too small. Think balance, proportion and harmony and use the frames to balance you face and features is my best input for this proportion problem. Like body type, there are probably specific recommendations for different features but you'll know the magic pair when you find it!! Show off your favorite frames!!
