Sterling - I like the idea of loafers and oxfords as opposed to flats.

Kkards - those might not be available, but I’m going to keep their shapes in mind.

3style - I used to wear mostly Born shoes. I do have one pair, though it’s awfuly clunky. I will wear them with longer pants that hide them a bit.

Mtnsofthemoon - I like a lot of your finds. I may try some. Those white loafers are really cute.

Angie - I’ve ordered the Jolette metallic and I just got them today. I think they may work. I definitely use body glide, but will try the other suggestion. I’m also trying the Emiline in a 10 1/2.

Toban and Jules. I do have one pair of rockport Cobb hill shoes. I haven’t tested them for heavy walking yet, but I do like them. If a shoe runs larger, I can buy a 10. If it runs small, I can sometimes get an 11. Occasional brands carry a 10 1/2. Naturalizer is carrying more 10 1/2.

Joyce. - I’m so glad you liked that skirt. I like it a lot too. It’s so comfortable to wear, and it looks good too. I think I got some knee high nylons in a larger shoe size, now that I think about it. I wore it with my gold shoes and wasn’t bothered by a tight calf. I forgot I had them until now, but I’m pretty sure I bought a 3 pack.

Elizabeth P - the sock on left is a style I’ve tried and rejected because they always fall off my heel. I’ve never tried the ones that just cover the toes. I would be open to trying those. My blisters usually occur on the heel or the top of the foot against the edge of the shoe.

Jane - that is an attractive shoe. I like the looks a lot. They are definitely pricy, but that price is worth it if they’re a useful work shoe.

Staysfit - I do have some colehaan sneakers, but they aren’t as comfortable as I would want them to be. I do like the statement they make.

These are my go to shoes for work (dressy/professional setting). I wear a lot of cropped pants. I have a mix of flats, very low heals, and medium booties.

My favorite are Taryn Rose slingbacks with a one inch block heel. I just checked and they don’t seem to be making them anymore

I’ve also frequently had good success with Born in this category. Sort of mid market middle longevity.

Sorry to post and run. I will return later today. I did use body glide. Kkards, your picks look in line with my asthetic, so will look more when I can.

I’m also trying the Naturalizer flat in the next size. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be a winner. Will also be trying FS jolette and I really like Cobb hill, but wish they carried the 10 1/2. I may be between sizes in that brand.

my rule for shoes worn without socks is that they must have a leather lining...otherwise my foot sweats and they get uncomfortable and the shoes don't last very long.

i do use body glove in the beginning of the season, but most of my shoes don't need it buy the 2nd month.

i also prefer something that's not 100% flat even if its just a slight heel or wedge, to me that's just more comfortable

these are my most comfortable summer flats....the last 2 are technically sneakers, but they're sort of a hybrid flat/sneaker that could work for you if you have a flexible dress code

You need VERY comfy and supportive flats with body glide and toe protectors.

I just picked up some ballet ‘flats’ from Rockport - the Total Motion Hidden Wedge - that I find very comfortable. The slight wedge, padded insole and stretchy sides all make them way more comfortable than your average ballet flat. On the second wearing I had a long day planned so I used a bit of Body Glide (an Angie tip) on the areas I thought might rub, and did 11,000 steps without any problem.

Rockport, and especially their Cob Hill line, are my go to for comfy work shoes. There are some low heeled closed toe shoes with ankle straps that could be appropriate with ankle pants. Color selection isn’t always very big, though. I currently have 3pairs from Rockport: burgundy block heel pumps (1.5 inch), blue Gladiator inspired sandals (1 inch), and camel shooties (1.5-2 inch). I can walk for miles with no socks in these. The camel shooties were workhorses on my Lyon trip.

Delurked, if you buy knee high nylons get them in plus size as those are less constricting than in regular. I used to love Nordstrom’s but now the quality is not the same although they bind less than regular nylons.
BTW I have to thank you for recommending the black skirt with textured squares from a post of yours from a while ago. I bought it and could not be happier with it.

I’m wearing some Think! flats currently. They are super comfortable, and I walk a lot for work (normally 13,000 steps plus per day). They are black suede. The suede is good quality. They were pricey, but for me, they have been very good.

Not the answer to the question you asked, but have you tried wearing the little sockie things that just cover your toes? So don’t show at all? I started wearing them a couple of years ago and love them. You do have to play a bit to find ones that stay in place. I have Hue nude ones that literally cover about one cm of my toes for low vamp shoes, and others that cover prob half my foot for fashion sneakers. And some in between.

No more blisters while feet toughen up at the beginning of the season, and keeps the shoes a lot “fresher” as well.

I’m looking to find some comfortable low heeled or flat closed toe footwear (1 1/2 inch or less) that can take a good amount of walking in. I sometimes struggle with flats being uncomfortable. In fact, not wearing socks has started to cause me blisters with extended walking, even if they feel comfortable when I initially try them on.

I like ankle length pants, so socks with my shoes don’t necessarily work. I would consider knee high thin nylons of some sort if I could find some without an annoying seam and ones that don’t cut off calf circulation.

What is your winning summer footwear?
