I tried these on in store and they were great…I was hoping to they would come in white. But they only offered them in a crop, which I didn’t like as they ended up at that neither here nor there length

I have these too and find them very flattering and comfortable. Unlike my other wide leg denim, these have no pleats and look more streamlined. The length is good with sneakers or low heeled boots for me too, and I usually buy a 32” inseam when it’s available (sometimes 31”)

Suz and Blue Jay, thanks for chiming in with your thoughts, wisdom and astute observations!!!

Suz I had high rise wide leg jeans from a few years back but never "loved them" and didn't really wear them much. Same issue of "bind" in the waist and too much squeeze in the hip and thighs! These do not bind or squeeze me. And yep, menopause has gifted me a bit of a "tummy" compared to my washboard abs of younger decades (lol).

Blue Jay, I too only have 1.5 hand width on my waist - per the angie test! That was the very first time in my life I had heard about that. It totally made sense and now I understand why many times I get the dreaded "bag and sag" in the crotch area with some clothing! Brilliant and informative.

Hi five to my curvy, pear and hourglass ladies!

Yes, Suz, you're right! Maybe the older versions "nip-in" at the waist? UGH! Fitting pants has become easier lately.

It used to be that if I sized up for my waist to fit, then the thighs and butt were too big, and if I sized down, I couldn't get them up past my knees! I used to buy pants that fit my thighs, hips and butt, but then I would have a seamstress take in that awful gap in the back of the waist of the pants. Yes, I'm not sure what is going on!

BlueJay, you raise a point that has also struck me -- these newer wide legs are so much more comfortable on the waist than the earlier high rise jeans were. What is going on there? Is it the darts that many have in the back, or a more proportionate front to back rise ratio, or what? I am not a sewist but I can say this for sure. Even though they come higher on the waist than my earlier high waist wide legs, they do not "bind" in the way the earlier ones did at all.

And yes -- they are great for hourglasses as well as pears. And ITs. I don't know about a true rectangle or an H shape.

High Five mtnsofthemoon! I have these jeans too and I absolutely LOVE them!!

I am not a pear though, but I have a shapely behind, so more hourglass to apple and I do have a strong, broad shoulder line. Generally, for dresses I have to buy for my shoulders and waist. I do love these jeans. They hug my hips and are comfortable through my waist. I'm also short-waisted (I can only fit one and a half hands according to Angie's formula), but I have a long rise and these jeans sit on my bellybutton with a measured rise of 11". I bought the regular. I am 5'6" tall and the 32" inseam gently graze the ground for me.

I also love the swish!! Thanks for your review!

Zaeobi, I think the petite inseam might work or even be a touch short -- truly!

This is a great review. It echoes my own impressions of the new wider leg denim, at least the 4 versions I have lately purchased.

Truly, fab friends, if you haven't tried wider legs recently, you might want to try them on again. I, too, had feelings of "chunk" in some earlier versions. Yes, I'm relatively slight and my hips are not wide (though neither are they narrow). But my tummy is NOT pancake flat post-menopause and I also have a bottom. Also, substantial thighs for my size, such that a lot of "straight" leg jeans were more like skinnies on me.

Even many of the so-called "baggy" or looser jeans -- for instance -- the Levis high waist wide leg crop that works SO well on Irina and Sal (and others here) look horrible on me because my thighs fill out the front too much -- it does not hang in a good way and rather than looking like a wide jean, just succeeds in making me look wider.

This newer version of wide leg is a real boon to the pear or near-pear shaped person. It can also work on hourglass figures. Also could work on ITs who want to balance their shoulders.

If your rise is shorter, I would not necessarily rule out all versions. Angie has a shorter rise and she looks terrific in these jeans. So -- worth considering. And no, nobody is paying me a commission for this, LOL.

We have similar fit issues, so thanks for the review - trendy cuts in dark denim washes are hard to find these days!

I'm just under 5ft4 though, so even the 29" petite inseam sounds long to me! But that might just be due to all those years where the 'shorter full length' was trending

I recently purchased a pair of the "puddle" ish style I am seeing everywhere lately and scored well so wanted to share. I have had my eye on the long (full length) and wide leg pant trend showing up everywhere and coveting the look.

I am curvy (and have gained 15 lbs over the years). My waist - although expanding - is still smaller than my ample and very round bottom. Just giving folks a sense of my shape and how the pants fit.

the Gap High Rise Strde Jean fits like a glove and the shape of the leg is actually flattering. I do not feel it adds unattractive volume or added "chunk" to me. I usually feel "bigger" than I am in many of the wider leg pants - even if they are full length. So I was plesantly surprised and wanted to share.

The waist sits high - but not too high (for me). I am short waisted and generally do not like high or super high rises. I am a mid-rise gal mostly. But this jean does the trick for me. Oh for got to mention I am 5'5" wiht a long inseam - 32' is perfect length for me and I can wear flats or tennis shoes no problem. The jeans give me that long and flowing look without feeling "dumpy" or "chunky". I have already worn them a few times and like the swish I get waling in them.
