Unlike my other wide leg denim, these have no pleats and look more streamlined. I used to buy pants that fit my thighs, hips and butt, but then I would have a seamstress take in that awful gap in the back of the waist of the pants. What is going on there? Is it the darts that many have in the back, or a more proportionate front to back rise ratio, or what? I am not a sewist but I can say this for sure. Even though they come higher on the waist than my earlier high waist wide legs, they do not "bind" in the way the earlier ones did at all.&nbsp;</p> <p>And yes -- they are great for hourglasses as well as pears. And ITs. Generally, for dresses I have to buy for my shoulders and waist.<b> I do love these jeans.</b> They hug my hips and are comfortable through my waist. I'm also short-waisted&nbsp;(I can only fit one and a half hands according to <a rel="nofollow" href="https://youlookfab.com/2009/06/29/how-to-tell-if-you-are-short-or-long-waisted/">Angie's formula</a>), but <b>I have a long rise</b> and these jeans sit on my bellybutton with a measured rise of 11". I bought the regular. It echoes my own impressions of the new wider leg denim, at least the 4 versions I have lately purchased. </p> <p>Truly, fab friends, if you haven't tried wider legs recently, you might want to try them on again. I, too, had feelings of "chunk" in some earlier versions. Yes, I'm relatively slight and my hips are not wide (though neither are they narrow). But my tummy is <b>NOT</b> pancake flat post-menopause and I also have a bottom. Also, substantial thighs for my size, such that a lot of "straight" leg jeans were more like skinnies on me. </p> <p>Even many of the so-called "baggy" or looser jeans -- for instance -- the Levis high waist wide leg crop that works SO well on <b>Irina</b> and <b>Sal</b>&nbsp; (and others here) look horrible on me because my thighs fill out the front too much -- it does not hang in a good way and rather than looking like a wide jean, just succeeds in making me look wider.&nbsp;</p> <p>This newer version of wide leg is a real boon to the pear or near-pear shaped person. It can also work on hourglass figures. Also <b>could</b> work on ITs who want to balance their shoulders.&nbsp;</p> <p>If your rise is shorter, I would not necessarily rule out all versions. <b>Angie</b> has a shorter rise and she looks terrific in these jeans. So -- worth considering. I really like the style. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/shout-out-to-the-gap-high-rise-stride-jean#post-2315837 Thu, 30 Mar 2023 19:45:29 +0000 mtnsofthemoon 2315837@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I recently purchased a pair of the "puddle" ish style I am seeing everywhere lately and scored well so wanted to share.&nbsp; I have had my eye on the long (full length) and wide leg pant trend showing up everywhere and coveting the look.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>I am curvy (and have gained 15 lbs over the years).&nbsp; My waist - although expanding - is still smaller than my ample and very round bottom.&nbsp; Just giving folks a sense of my shape and how the pants fit.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>the Gap High Rise Strde Jean fits like a glove and the shape of the leg is actually flattering.&nbsp; I do not feel it adds unattractive volume or added "chunk" to me.&nbsp; I usually feel "bigger" than I am in many of the wider leg pants - even if they are full length.&nbsp; So I was plesantly surprised and wanted to share.&nbsp; </p> <p>The waist sits high - but not too high (for me).&nbsp; I am short waisted and generally do not like high or super high rises.&nbsp; I am a mid-rise gal mostly.&nbsp; But this jean does the trick for me.&nbsp; Oh for got to mention I am 5'5" wiht a long inseam - 32' is perfect length for me and I can wear flats or tennis shoes no problem.&nbsp; The jeans give me that long and flowing look without feeling "dumpy" or "chunky".&nbsp; I have already worn them a few times and like the swish I get waling in them.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p> </p>
