Hey I didn't know my mom was a member! ;)

Thanks for the reminder...

(When I was in 7th and 8th grade, I was teased mercilessly because of my posture--kids thought I was "sticking my chest out". But in fact, I was just standing up straight. It was tough going thru that at such a difficult age, but now I have pretty good posture. Besides, standing up tall makes you look thinner, and it gives you an air of confidence. I even read somewhere standing up tall and looking confident makes you less of a target for crime. )

Beautiful Nancy! This point is mentioned at the end of this post. My grandmother use to make my mother walk around the house with a book on her head. This wouldn’t go down too well today.

Thanks for the reminder! I am working at this because for some reason I have a tendency to hunch (probably too much computer time), sometimes anyway...I usually don't realize it until someone catches me in a candid photo or video. Plus sometimes I feel so tall (5' 7 1/2") around certain people, but I'm trying to wear heels more often - you're right, slouching is never attractive, but "straight" confidence is!

Hello Angie and everyone.
Yesterday I was at the drycleaners waiting in line and immediately noticed the women being waited on at the counter. I couldn't help it, she had such a great outfit on for the early spring weather. She wore a terrific spring green lightweight trench (pant length) - the coat was really drenched in color - over some dark wash trouser style jeans, with a bright white shirt with french cuffs and a collar showing crisply against the green of the coat. With this ensemble, she wore black patent ballet type flats with gold hardware and had a great pair of sunglasses on her head. All in all, every choice was perfect, age appropriate and worn with flair.

As my eyes scanned this great outfit they started with the shoes and moved upward with appreciation until they reached her head and shoulders - and what a disappointment! She had obviously put some thought and care into her clothing. But her posture was such - sunken shoulders hunched forward, head down - that the entire effect was completely spoiled.

I'm not always the poster child for good posture but this clear object lesson has imbued me with new incentive.

Remember, stand up straight, don't ruin your carefully planned outfit!
