It often gets too warm during midday to wear boots (even if it started cold in the morning). The Rails shirt was a must have because it paired with the cords so well. I'm not sure where you live, but I tend to not want to wear cropped pants in cold weather unless I have a boot on. Until I dialed in my boot collection, it was a challenge. I think cropped bottoms for cold weather look best with a mid shaft boot, but in my area there's a very short window of cold weather to wear that style. Too often the alternation changes the shape of the pants. I had this issue with bootcut jeans, by the time I shortened them, they were straight legs or even skinnies. All the fabric I'd be taking off of these pants, not only is it making them look like cropped flares to my eye, but also cutting so much fabric off these reminds me of my many experiences with bootcut styles.&nbsp;</p> <p>By the time I was done removing the fabric on a bootcut, the new length made the pants look more like a straight leg, because all the flare was gone. I used to have to look at petite bootcuts because there would be a lot less material to cut off and I wouldn't loose the shape of the leg. But that model is probably 5'8" or taller. I am 5'3" and these pants fall closer to full length on me.</p> <p><b>#3 and </b><b>#4 - Above the Ankle Bone</b><br />This first option is above the ankle bone. There is so much extra fabric to remove that I think these pants now look like cropped flares.</p> <p><b>#5 and #6 - Close to the Ankle Bone</b><br />For the second option, I moved the hem closer to the ankle bone. This option looks closer to the length on the model in the stock photo but I'm unsure about it. The pants still look like a cropped flare to me. I think it's because I will have to remove so much fabric to make these ankle length that I'm losing the wide leg (because it's mostly getting cut off).</p> <p>I do worry about shortening these pants. There's so much fabric I would have to remove that I worry about the length making me look short and like I'm wearing a cropped flare. (I know I AM short, but I don't necessarily want to highlight it, if IYKWIM). I also worry that Nordstrom will be able to <u>exactly </u>match the color of these pants, because it is a very unique color.</p> <p>So, what do you think?
