Mine is black with lots of bright little flowers and it has a full lining. I’ve realized that it’s not a good scorching hot day dress: even though it’s short and sleeveless. I’m trying to make it functional for slightly cooler weather. I tried first with just black mostly cotton full length leggings, but at that point it looks like it needs closed shoes, and I was ultimately looking for something to go with black sandals and not shoes. So I’m optimistic that cropped leggings will work. I think it's both that it's short and that the hem is frilly. I would vote not to buy it because the youngish vibe will bother you each time you want to wear it; you'll always feel a little off and not like yourself. I would keep looking.</p> <p>If you have the money to spend, I would try Boden or Anthropologie. I have ordered several dresses/jumpers from Anthro with tops like this dress, and they are well constructed with lining that makes them suitable for wearing without a bra (I've actually got one on now, in fact!). I also tried a couple of swing dresses that were short, but because they weren't fitted they looked elegant to my eyes. I would also wear a shift in that length. I think it's the combination of thin straps, fitted top with a heart neckline, and short flared skirt... But it’s a crew neck in top, (zippered back) so I think it avoids the juniors look. That being said, I just ordered a couple of cropped legging options, amongst which I hope something will work. I found the length was a bit of an impediment.
