Andrea, I say try them. From your posts I think you have a great understanding of what works for you, proportions, etc so I am confident you can work these. The top you describe to wear with them sounds perfect and I have to see this leopard trench. Please try... and post photos of full outfit. I love your style.

Try them! The shape is no more problematic than a regular skinny, and the fabrication would fit your style nicely. The issue will probably be whether or not you can find a pair that fits perfectly, since the options will be limited.

I can totally see these fitting in with your style. Love the idea of pairing them with the leopard trench - meow! Would they work with the new wedge black trainers for a casual and funky vibe?

ETA: I'm about as far away from funky as can be, so my two cents might not be worth much. Though your fabulous style always brings a smile to my face!

I live in Camden, New Jersey, U.S. Majority black, minority hispanic and some sprinkling of others. It is the norm here for women who are pear shaped in a major way to dress in skintight pants or leggings. They seem happy with it and people accept/appreciate it.
You know, baby got back and all that.

Don't you live in London or thereabouts? I don't know how long you can "get away" with it but I would think in London until long past when you're dead. Talking through my hat, it seems to me that England encourages more individuality in appearance. If you've got Vivian Westwood, there isn't any question that people can go on getting away with things for as long as they want.

Very interesting comment Vildy. I do love 'current' fashion but I don't think I'm too much of a fashion victim. I am quite happy to be outside of what is current (& the weird thing is that then the things I've been wearing suddenly become the norm). If an item of clothing is suddenly deemed to be 'out of fashion' it doesn't bother me as long as I love it!

I don't feel a compelling need to look either 'thin' or 'in' - in fact I didn't even know that red leather/waxed jeans were in at all until I googled the pics. I just loved the look on Michelle at K of S & I like the edginess she has to her outfits. I think maybe I'm craving more edginess while I can still get away with it - if that makes any sense!

I think you should do it. I wear skinnies constantly and I am pear shaped. I don't see how these are different in shape than regular colored skinnies except that the texture is a bit stiffer. Especially if you plan to wear a somewhat long-ish top over it, I think they'd be great!

Is your priority to look Thin or In? They were very In a year or so ago. Seems like the zeitgeist has moved on to snake. Is Kate Moss still wearing hers? You tend to wear clothes that focus on your leg area as an area of interest - like the hitch skirts. I realize they hide everything but, hey, flaunting is bolder. You don't usually see pear shapes in something that shows all the hips and thighs but it works in art. Why don't you go try some on and see how they-you feel.

It's against most modern-day advice but in Triumph of Original Style she shows both how to hide and to *emphasize* features like a belly!

These seem risky to me, unless you have quite long thin legs.

Advice needed please.

Since seeing Michelle from the Kingdom of Style blog wearing red waxed skinny jeans from ASOS I've been trying to justify their purchase for my wardrobe.
I'm not sure about the ASOS ones (which have fab biker details) as they are cropped & I'm not sure they'd be so easy to wear. I've found 2 other pairs from Promod & House of Fraser & they're full length.

However, I must admit I'm not the same build as Michelle (I am a pear shape) but I can foresee me wearing them with a asymmetric white tee with a graphic print & my leopard print velvety trenchcoat. So I can cover the problem area.

Do you think they might be a good fit for me? - wardrobe wise & physically?

If you wore these trousers what would you pair them with?

Thanks all.
