Thanks Janet and Mary-Beth.

Once the weather warms up I will no doubt be grateful for another hot weather option. And actually the two piece could be brilliant for some travels next year as it does not crease.

I'm late as well, but I think you made some great decisions! I was going to suggest keeping the denim shorts, tan sandals, and two-piece, because I can see where these all look great, and I'm pretty sure will be useful to you at some point during your upcoming summer season :) Especially the denim shorts, because they're useful for your outdoor activities.

I don't think the two-piece looks dated. Maybe not super-trendy, but it's classic, and the floral looks gorgeous in the stock photo.

Late to this, but it looks like you’ve made decisions I agree with! I keep my old denim cutoffs to wear around the house or for camping, so I see the usefulness of those! The sandals too. I also totally get not feeling those small-scale prints anymore. Good work!

Thanks Angie - I have kept this - it's in the holding zone and I will review in six weeks when I consider high summer pieces again.

These are going:

Green silk blouse - it is not me, too floppy and not sharp enough (I like the colours)

Floral blouse - too ditsy and feels off on me

Blue popover blouse - too boho for me

black sundress - its not great on me, and I never choose to wear it

green botanical skirt - worn out, has been good, but tired now

Keeping the sandals, black two piece and shorts (I do garden, camp and clean my house, which these shorts are suited for).

I agree SlimCat - it’s silly to get rid of things that still serve a purpose. With the shorts I don’t want to slip into wearing too much as I want to look more polished- but that’s up to me!

Thanks Jenni - I do think after about 6 years if something isn’t worn out, about half the time I am sick of it! The ones I love and still have tend to be statement pieces that just don’t get much wear. I think you could allow yourself two or three key new pieces for summer - your shopping is very restrained.

Thanks Star. I did a try on and have decided both blouses are going as is one from deep in the sentimental holding zone. The dress is going as is another dress -a black sundress that is always my last choice to wear. Keeping the two piece set, shorts and sandals. The blouse is a pretty colour but just not my style any more. The two piece is good - I think it’s worth keeping.

I have a few things that don’t fit my aspirational style but that I like or are just so useful that I will keep them. The denim shorts and this mint popover are two - the popover is so good for beach wear or hikes in the sun.

So you have pretty much decided what to do so just want to add my situation. I too find ditsy florals so cute on young girls but frumpy on me. So I actually donated a dress and a skirt that were in perfectly good condition (very unusual for me, I struggle to get rid of not worn out clothes). That is how strongly I felt about it, so I totally get this. Definitely keep the shorts for the purposes stated. I am doing the same with my white cotton shorts. I have decided shorter shorts are not in my future but they are such workhorses I will wear them at home. OMG I love the shoes you are tired of. If I love an item and am tired of it I put it out of sight for some time (holding zone - mine is on a a list). Later I usually am happy to put it back in circulation and am relieved I did not purge it. They are breezy and elegant! The blue top is your colour, that is a big plus. You say it looks good with white denim and light denim. I too have tops that can only be worn a couple of times a year due to weather restraints. Not all pieces have to be workhorses. Also I believe we can venture out of out style descriptors occasionally if the piece makes us happy (a wild card?). That said it is very boho. If the palazzo pants get worn instead of the skirt and it is getting worn out it probably can 'safely' go, although I love the skirt. I would probably keep it for weekends until is is a bit more worn out, but as I said I am a slow editor. If you like the two piece why should it go now, do a wear and assess when the weather is apt.

I’m no good at thinking about the 3 words and how your items fit them, but it could be telling that I like the blue floral ditsy blouse the best of all these and our styles are fairly different. I’m not bold or breezy but Angie said I looked elegant recently! :)
I also am feeling some dissatisfaction with my wardrobe heading into warmer climate soon (hopefully). I have been looking at shoes and pretty clothes and trying not to undo all my hard work of keeping my wardrobe manageable. But some of it is just having owned items a very long time, much of mine is also 2018 or older and I do think that we’re allowed to be tired of things after that long especially if worn quite a lot!
I do get scared sometimes of replacing before I find something else that fills the same role.

Thanks Brooklyn. I will try two piece on, I am very fond of it and was in love with it from 2018-2021, but it has faded in favour since. It is a useful travelling piece though as it does not crush nor easily show marks.

The cream blouse is several years old, and the white was a 2023 purchase. The ditsy floral can go!!

I will keep the sandals. It is good to have several options - my current collection is below. The black Eileen Fisher are pretty tired but good for the occasional evening stroll, and the flat braided pair are very tired but perfect for vacations in hot places....

Those palazzo pants are fabulous, I adore the print and the color. And I think they would work well with the sandals going in the holding zone, if you want to sport a heel with them. Of course, a white or neutral colored flat, slide sandal will probably work well too. The 3 blouses in the finds look like good options to replace the tiny floral print one. You're wardrobe for the upcoming season is off to a great start.

Thanks Lisa, Jaime and Suz. These palazzo pants have probably taken the place of the bold green skirt so I won't replace.

Same with the blouse- I have three other summer blouses in the finds below.

The two piece dress was in the holding zone last summer, it can stay there until December as it is not warm enough yet.

You are all right - the sandals are still quite elegant and breezy and even chunkyy/bold. With my foot issues I need to assess all my summer footwear so I am silly to act too promptly.......

I like your thought processes here. If it were me, I'd keep:

1. the cutoffs in a special utility capsule.
2. the tan sandals if they would create a hole, until you find the right replacement.
3. the two piece dress because I adore it, but i am biased because I have a similar one that I still wear and love. However, i might treat it a bit like the sandals, i.e. keep until you find something the fills a similar role, and it will very likely be 2 pieces as well, a co-ord set.

I would let everything else go. I don't think the smaller florals work with your style descriptors and although the green botanical print skirt is gorgeous, you will likely find something that fills that role this season.

1 and 3 (floral dress and blouse) don't look like they fit the style of "bold, breezy, elegant." I don't consider these soft, tiny floral prints to be bold and vote donate for that reason.

The shorts in 2, I wouldn't get rid of until you have a replacement since they fill a specific need.

The skirt in 4, I like a lot for the current aspirational style, it definitely says bold yet elegant to me. But, if it's showing signs of wear I'd start looking for a replacement.

The boho blouse in vibe, your label gives away, this is boho not elegant. I'd vote donate because it's not in line with your current style.

Sandals, these look elegant to me. If they are comfortable I vote keep, comfortable shoes are always hard to find and you may reach for them over time again since they were a previous workhorse. But only keep if you have room to store a shoe that may go unworn for a season.

Black floral two piece, this is actually my favorite of this group, it says elegant and bold to me, so I vote keep.

I do love the floral dress and wonder if it would work for work with the suit jacket from your new fabulous pants suit as a topper and your pale pink shoes? It seems a ‘medium’ scale floral.

I do get not liking small scale florals. I’m the same. There’s nothing dainty or petite about me, and they feel so overtly feminine.

Thanks Cate and Sarah - I think I keep the shorts too in a utility/gear capsule. Even if I wear them for hosing and painting and camping only!!

Sarah - I will do some try ons with the two piece dress and I agree keep the sandals at least for a while.

The short sleeve floral blouse and long sleeve dress are in good condition to donate - desirable brands too. The green botanical skirt probably just needs to be recycled.

I will also wear the blue blouse over the upcoming week and do a WIW - it gets about four wears a year and is good in spring. I used to wear with white denim but no longer own any - it is nice with mid wash denim too.

I would keep the shorts but in a "utility" capsule (even if the capsule is a mental one).

The tan sandals...if they would leave a hole, then I would put new sandals on your shopping list for spring/summer and keep until you find a replacement. (This is my advice as someone who is often unable to find targeted replacements like that when I need them...ymmv.) Maybe cogitate a bit on why you are tired of them/what qualities in a new pair would make them feel "fresh" to you?

The piece that most obviously says "bold, breezy, elegant" to me is the green/tan botanical skirt. But if it is showing wear it will feel less elegant to you...

The two-piece dress! I am biased, because I love it so much. It is definitely breezy and elegant. The pastel color palette makes it a bit less "bold," but the large scale of the floral does have a bold quality. And so versatile! I vote keep, and maybe do a styling session to see if there are any fresh ways to wear it?

I think the other three pieces can go if you are no longer feeling them.

I might keep the shorts and the blue blouse but maybe move the rest on.

I like the skirt for you but not if it's no longer fresh looking

Hi All

I am transitioning my wardrobe to spring at the moment, although as usual it is not a warm spring!!

I am trying to narrow down to being bold, breezy and elegant (my three words). I have other things that are still not perfect but that I am keeping for various reasons.

Please advise
1) Keep and wear now
2) Holding zone
3) Donate or sell

The following finds are on the chopping board:

1) Long sleeve pink floral dress - has had good wear but I am finding it too soft and pretty for my current mood.
2) Denim cut offs - these are very useful for camping or gardening but I feel these are not aspirational for me. But I do go camping or to the beach and garden so they fill a spot. I can keep for limited use but wear my dressier shorts elsewhere?
3) Short sleeve floral blouse - purchased second hand. I do love the colours but smaller scale florals always feel a bit ditsy on me. It feels like a blouse that looks gorgeous on a 20 year old and frumpy on a 50 year old....
4) I have had this skirt since early 2019. 30 wears and showing some wear. I think time to exit. I have loved the colours and the warm green botanical print.
5) Cornflower blue blouse. My most boho top - in one of my best blues. It gets worn in spring as it is a thick cotton so too hot for mid-summer. I am a bit tired of it. Owned since 2016 so about eight years but has never been a workhorse.
6) Tan sandals. Owned since 2017/18 and still in good shape. I am a bit tired of them but they are good casual sandals.... Have been a workhorse but not so much now.
7) Black floral two piece - also owned since 2018. Feels a bit dated - I do like it - but I am not sure?

Happy to do any try-ons later if people want to see them on. There are no fit issues (in my opinion), just style ones.

In terms of leaving gaps in my wardrobe, the only real gap would be losing the denim shorts or the tan sandals. The dress, blouses and skirts are all splitting wears with other pieces.
