Thank you all for your help. Platinum it is then! I need to order the dye now and we will see how it goes.
Claire, so far we had 3 lessons and one social dance. Of course both of us still have 2 left feet each but it is a lot of fun. I really like when we find activity we both like and can do together. So far it was travelling, hikes, then yoga and now dancing. Suprisingly my guy loves to dance as much as I do (not a frequest occurence I am afraid) and we have fun together. The social dance was last Saturday after only 2 lessons and in the beginning we were afraid to go and make fools of ourselves when we know so little but then we did go and it was a blast!

Definitely the platinum then, I didn't realize it was a warmish silver. And I forgot that ballroom dancers usually wear a shoe that blends with their legs. Those skirts and dresses are beautiful Sveta, and they'll be perfect to start out with! You'll have to let us know how this new activity goes.

Platinum sounds good. I'm just in awe of the fact that one can dye shoes. This place is the first I've heard of it. So fun.

I vote platinum, often dancing shoes are metallics and platinum is a great neutral to mix with anything.

I vote platinum. I have a pair of platinum sandals that are really versatile - they seem to go with almost anything.

I like the platinum too. I find the metallics that look like a mix of silver and gold work with pretty much anything.

I agree that whatever you pick should be low contrast against your legs--that's what I think I've usually seen in ballroom shoes. Platinum sounds good!

I just dyed some shoes platinum & I love them - softer than silver or gold but still metallic enough.

I vote platinum. I actually have both old gold and platinum Tarrago dyes, and I think the platinum is more versatile. It's kind of a really pale gold that's shading into silver so works in place of both gold and silver. And it's a nice nude substitute too.

Also, the platinum seems to go on smoother, maybe because it's a lighter shade. The old gold seems to go on a bit streaky in my hands.

Sharan, I did not think about the soles! They are not leather but they have been sliding pretty well

I like the look of the platinum. It's kind of a dressed up nude shade, as Claire suggests. One benefit is that you already know the shoes look good in a low-contrast color against your skin.
As long as the Fidjis have a leather sole, they should work (they need to slide on the floor, right?)

Claire, I am not sure. Here are the skirts and dresses I want to use for dancing (flared skirts- yay for twirling!) but I may be adding more if this hobby really takes off

Sounds like fun!
Old gold might be nice. The platinum is really pretty too, and would be low contrast against your legs. I guess you'll be wearing nude hose with these?
Which would look better against the bulk of your clothes?

My hubby and I joined the ballroom dance club recently and I need good dancing shoes. As shoes are a beast to find for me I am shopping my closet. I think these Fidji pumps fit the bill: they are comfortable, have a low table heel, secure on my feet and I am able to dance in them for hours without killing my feet...but they are not very dressy.
How can I remedy this? I was thinking that maybe it is the nude color which makes them not dressy enough? I can try and dye them in this case but which color? The color should be versatile to go with as many outfits as possible!
I have this Tarrago dye in Midnight color (pic 2) - do you think it is a good color for my goal? Or should I go for black?
Or maybe metallic:
-old gold - pic 3;
- silver - pic 4;
- platinum - pic 5

Or pearly color (pic 6):
#714 Steel Gray
#717 Navy
#719 Pelican
#736 Ivory
#743 Pale Mauve
#744 Tourmaline

What say you?
