RoseandJoan and zoiechic, that's exactly what I did. My first guess was waaaaay too long -- they made me look like Frodo -- but I got it on the third try. They are about the length of a shortish midi skirt right now -- a little longer than "just below the knee", but not too much.</p> <p>I'm very excited because I have this pair of classy, army-green pumps that I never wear because I'm a bit bored of the skinnies-and-pumps look (and a pencil skirt or dress with plain pumps is too conservative for my style). With my new wide-leg cutoffs and a fitted black top, they look much fresher to my eye. I also like the juxtaposition of laid-back surfer jeans with classic pumps.&nbsp;</p> <p>I'm off to put them through the wash a few times to fray the hems. They are the wrong length. I used to wear them with flip flops, which are really flat, but now flats with wide legs just make me feel stumpy. You've got a point though -- I've got nothing to lose. I have never got rid of them because they fit really well and the back flap pockets make my bum look perkier, but I haven't worn them in ages. The hems aren't long enough to wear them with platforms or heels, but it occurred to me that perhaps, with the new wider-leg denim trends, I could cut them off into a sort of culotte-length? What do you think? I'd let the hems just fray and hopefully it will look beachy-cool.</p> <p>Also, because I'm petite, I have to be careful of short wide styles. Where should I chop them? Just below the knee? Or a little longer? A just-below-knee-length A-line skirt is a good length for me, whereas midis are harder, so I'm thinking the same rule will apply to pants. I don't want them to look like shorts, however.</p> </p>
