I don't see much of a sleeve problem here, but I do see it being a bit big just below the shoulders and above the bustline. There is a seam there, it wouldn't be too hard to take it in.

And I agree a new set of buttons would spiff it up.

Actually the shoulders fit well - I double checked. I think they seem hanging off because of the sleeve puffiness. So I guess this answers my question - we better alter them if they give this effect of shoulders being too big!:-)
Thanks for your help!

I don't mind the puffiness at all; it's quite minimal. Agree with the others about the fit of the shoulders, from a nitpicky POV, but with your fabulous tailor mom available, make the jacket fit perfectly!

Did she ever transform that hot pink jacket into a vest? I've been curious about that...

Lovely jacket.

I'd steer away from removing the puffiness. To me, it's not too puffy at all and I am not sure how easy it would be to keep the sleeve pattern correct once you'd flatten that bit.

But, I agree with Kelly, shoulder seems to hang a bit, to taking about 2-3cm off the shoulder hem length would help a lot. That might also pull in a bit of extra gather under the arms, which is not an issue in itself, but altering shoulder hem can sort two things at once.

Voting Nay for puffiness, but it's a Yay for the other work.

Great find, Sveta. I'm no expert, but it looks like the sleeve cap is hanging off your shoulder a bit. If she is going to alter it to make it smaller anyway, I would correct that and remove the gathers. Honestly, though, it doesn't bother me a bit but I know that you have a more classic, polished style and the alteration would make it look more refined. Just my 2 cents. I would wear it as is. It's a gorgeous color on you!

ETA: I read the yay/nay descriptions incorrectly. I meant to vote for alter.

I was on the hunt for a cream and white jacket for almost a year and I got lucky last week. On Thursday I thrifted a cropped cream cord jacket and yesterday I bought ON white denim jacket.
I like the softness of the color and texture of the cream one. It is too big but my mom will alter it for me. I am not sure about the sleeves though: they are puffed a bit on the shoulders. Are they OK like this or should we alter them as well to remove the puffiness?
Vote Yay - leave the sleeves as is;
Nay - alter the sleeves
