What Ceit said. You need BF jeans that are tapered at the hem so that they are flattering when rolled to create a cuff.

Good job trying though. You are almost there.

I think you look great in a dark straight jean if worn full length. I'm thinking these are not the ones to wear rolled as BF's. Something more curvy-tapered would look fab.

I think I would try a skinny jean, so the ankle is narrower, but try a size or 2 up, so that it has more of a relaxed boyfriend feel.

you could try the True Religion Cameron. They're not cheap, but they taper in just enough to make the cuff look in tune with wider hips and thighs.

rabbit, I think you may be right about hips making the cuffed look harder. And for me, compound my wide hips with my skinny calves and that may explain why I'm having trouble figuring this out (if the pants fit in the hips and thighs, they are super loose at the ankle almost regardless of cut).

I was trying to go for the cuffed at ankle (rather than the 4-6 inch above the ankle) look because it means the jeans would be long enough to uncuff and wear long in winter. And I am hoping to find jeans that work with this particular pair of shoes-- hard to tell in the photo but they are Frye Carson Oxfords. I love the shoes but have a hard time finding outfits for them.

I think it might be that the model doesn't have any hips. As a person with some hips, when I wear a straight leg pant, to get a size that fits up top, they end up looking a little wide leg at the bottom, and wide leg doesn't really work with cropped/rolled, although it's fine full length. More tapered styles of pants look straight leg on me because they appear to have a similar fit at the top as well as the bottom of the jean.

I'd maybe think about what height you want to roll them, and then try on jeans in your size in a variety of cuts until you find the one that gives the look you want rolled at the ankles, regardless of what it says on the label.

Laura is right about the calf ankle ratio. I suspect the model is wearing a very small size to fit her abnormally thin thighs so the ankles look narrower. I would prefer your jeans to be tapered more I think. That's something you could have tailored as the rest of the fit is fabulous.

This is the exact problem I was talking about in my thread about cropped pants! The models wear these cropped looks and then we try them and they look not so good. I have a few thoughts. A, I'm not sure Angie would like the look on the model either. B, I think the model has her jeans rolled up a tad higher, or at least it appears so from the angle of the shot. C, she has loafers on instead of boots, which give her a lower vamp and thus more bare skin between the top of the shoe and the bottom of the jeans roll. D, she's pretty thin and rectangular, so there's not much narrowing from the knee down to the ankle in her shape, whereas most of us are wider in the thigh than we are in the calf.

Also Ceit,
This particular pair is shown rolled up on the website. Sigh...I wish I could figure out why it seems to work on their model and not me. I guess maybe since I don't have a model's body?

Yup, these are Lucky Brand.

They are long enough unrolled. But I cuffed them for two reasons: 1) I've seen some people here cuffing their boyfriend jeans at the low ankle and I liked the look; and 2) These jeans (although supposedly straight leg) appeared to me to have a slight taper. Worn like this, they are long enough to bunch up at the top of my shoe and it looks off to my eye due to the taper. I should have taken a photo.

I think I will keep shopping. I only tried these yesterday because I was returning the old pair. I did try another pair of straight legs too but the particular pair at this store didn't work.

I think if you want to wear a rolled pair they should be tapered more at the ankle.

I like the wash and the fit as far as I can see. Are they long enough unrolled?

Are those Lucky Brand? I think I recognize the tags. I like the fit through the body but am not in love with them rolled up, since they're quite wide at the ankle. Would you wear them full length or as styled?

I know wider legs are coming but I wonder if you would suit something skinnier because of your slim ankles. Not a calf-sucking skinny but a narrow straight leg, which perhaps could be worn both full length and rolled (since I believe you are looking for one jean to rule them all).

They look good from what I can tell. Yeah, it would be nice to have more pictures. Are they rolled because they are short or can you wear them full length if you choose? I like the slight whiskering in the front.

Here's a pair of jeans I am considering. Do you have any thoughts? I wish I had spent more time getting photos but I was the only person in the store and I was getting a lot of attention from the employees.
