One of the ways my closet has gotten full of clothes I don't wear is my tendency to buy things in two colors (usually black and brown for me). It's WAY more fun to have two different items in one color each. Then, if one pair is particularly good for walking, you can plan around that pair for that day. Or if one pair has a peep toe and it's raining, you can wear the other. I bought several pairs and ended up returning most of them, since I feel like since this is my first time experimenting with nice boots, I don't yet know what I like and how I'm going to wear them. I kept a pair of knee-high black scrunch boots and a pair of short pink-red cowboy boots and I still have the Cleeos from Zappos in gray waiting to be decided on. I would recommend that you keep one of them for now, return the other one, and then keep track of how much you really want the other color. If it's as amazing as you think, and you keep thinking "darn it, I really wish I had this boot in brown", you can always buy it again in a month. I love light boots for a statement look with dark jeans but I love chocolate for a more subtle/matched look with dresses/skirts/jeans, etc. Hang on to both for a bit and see how often you're reaching for them.
