I have problem-child feet and often WISH I had more duplicate shoes/boots.

So since you have limited choices too, I will enable you -- but only AFTER you pick one color and start wearing it a *lot* (and for longer periods of time).

You don't really need 2 pairs of not-that-comfortable boots, right? So keep the alternative tucked away a bit longer, road test its fraternal twin, then decide.

I have one style of ballet flats in three colors AND duplicates of each!
If you love them and they fit, duplicates are the only way to go.

This rules does NOT apply, however, to footwear with crazy price tags, as in $500 a pop.

I have black dress boots that I duplicated in brown for two reason: 1) they were a good fit and 2) buy one and get the other half off. I haven't regretted it. : )

I agree with everyone else: keep one only (probably the taupe, since I agree that it will be easier to find other boots in brown than in taupe). One of the ways my closet has gotten full of clothes I don't wear is my tendency to buy things in two colors (usually black and brown for me). It's WAY more fun to have two different items in one color each. Then, if one pair is particularly good for walking, you can plan around that pair for that day. Or if one pair has a peep toe and it's raining, you can wear the other. And so forth.

biscuitsmom, I DO believe in duplicates! Especially if your fussy feet feel great in these particular boots. Yes, I am an enabler. GO FOR IT!!

I haven't read the rest of the replies yet. I would say keep only one, and get the other color in a different (even if similar) style. I think two pairs of the same boot just won't be as useful or fun. But anytime someone asks about being bad, I say YES!

I vote only keep one pair. I have only ever repeated footwear once, and that was with cowboy boots. Now I always wear the one color and never the other color.

I agree with the fussy feet comment... Long time ago, I got a pair of sandals from Nordstrom, and they ended up to be the most versatile and comfy sandals I ever had (no kidding), I wore them to death within 2 summers, and every summer I go back there just to check if they might bring them, but no luck, I wish I had gotten 2 pairs. LOL. not much help?

I DO have 'fussy feet' and normally need a wide width, which really limits the choices...I have a pair of Blowfish Wheaton in sand, dark grey suede slouch boots and a light grey eyelet pair...so Im really *not* duplicating any colors I already have and my BW's have a 3.5 inch heel, so I dont wear them very often, while these are only 2 inches and are oh so soft....thanks SO much for your replies!

Ordinarily I am of the same opinion as QM - I wouldn't keep two colors of the same shoe UNLESS you have fussy feet! I have learned by experience over the last year or so that finding shoes that suit my fussy feet are very, very difficult so if you have that issue & find a pair that is heavenly on your feet, you may very well want to duplicate!

I've also gotten a little excited about fashion boots this fall, so I totally understand your pain! I bought several pairs and ended up returning most of them, since I feel like since this is my first time experimenting with nice boots, I don't yet know what I like and how I'm going to wear them. I kept a pair of knee-high black scrunch boots and a pair of short pink-red cowboy boots and I still have the Cleeos from Zappos in gray waiting to be decided on. I would recommend that you keep one of them for now, return the other one, and then keep track of how much you really want the other color. If it's as amazing as you think, and you keep thinking "darn it, I really wish I had this boot in brown", you can always buy it again in a month. On the other hand, you might find that you like the style less than you thought, or it's less comfortable than it feel now, and then you'll be glad you only have one pair.

They are super cute, though!

before I read your question I'm going to say "No, be a good girl"

now, let me go see what you're asking......
Ah, I'm going to stick with my answer. Only because I am not a believer in having 2 of the same thing in different colors. What color boots are your other 3 pair? My choice would be for the taupe as it seems hard to find a fab boot in anything other than black or brown. Then later you'll find another boot that you love just as much in brown.

Biscuitsmom, I'm nothing if not an enabler.
In my mind, a neutral taupe and a chocolate brown serve different purposes, albeit with an area of overlap. I love light boots for a statement look with dark jeans but I love chocolate for a more subtle/matched look with dresses/skirts/jeans, etc. Hang on to both for a bit and see how often you're reaching for them. If you find yourself yearning to wear both within the first few days, I think you've justified a dual keep!

I am venturing into fashion boots for the first time this Fall and bought a few very different pairs. DH was not too happy, but didnt complain very much...Then I found the Steve Madden Maxximus boots and bought them in taupe...then I saw the dark brown option in the YLF store, so I decided to try them and only keep one pair...now I just cant choose between the two and the wicked part of me says 'dont choose, keep both' should I?
