As others have said, the cargos are a great length on you and show off your terrific legs. The pink is a great colour on you. You have decided that you like the drapiness of the pashima, so even if you do not wear it this way now, you may be able to extrapolate from this toward other outfits in future. It's a great learning experience. </p> <p>I'm not sure this is the right outfit for the event, but it sounds as if it may be a tough event to dress for anyway. I have several white tops, mind you.</p> <p>The cargoes are not an essential part of this, well, none of it is really. This whole thing fell together by accident when I was trying out Vix's scarf tying method and I kind of liked the look of it over a column of black. And then I added the pearls and kind of chuckled over the juxtaposition of all that with the slouchy cargoes. So why not - I threw on the platforms and took a picture just for fun. And something about the whole get-up kind of appeals to me somewhere, even if I never intended it as a serious possibility. I am quite sure I would raise a few eyebrows if I actually wore it, but they are kind of used to me. But I should probably go more classic for the pictures, if nothing else. But that is the great thing about a scarf. I could wear it more conventionally and then retie it and ask people what they think. There will be four generations there, so the reactions could be quite mixed. We've been asked to wear dressier than normal clothes because pictures will be taken (60th wedding anniversary celebration). I am toying with breaking out my new pink pearls over a column of black. The cargo pants are iffy. They are on the verge of not staying up on their own any more and a belt would rather ruin the line, it seems to me. I do have black pants I can wear if it's cooler, as well as black jeans and black ponte-knit clamdiggers. I can always change after pictures if the best combination isn't weather-appropriate.</p> <p>The vest is a pashmina tied using Vix's scarf dress technique, leaving the belt off.</p> <p>What do you think? Is this too quirky? Are the platforms too much or too dated? Is the combination just too weird? Just about anything here can be swapped out. </p>
