This top and bottom are relatively low contrast, but as you point out, my legs showing adds a LOT of contrast at the bottom of the shorts and the sandals have a lot of vertical lines at the ankle.&nbsp;So these sandals would be better with longer pants&nbsp;where the vertical line is further down the leg, like&nbsp;cropped or ankle length&nbsp;pants&nbsp;instead of shorts. What a great observation! ...something for me to experiment with in terms or proportion. And yes lighter sandals seem the way to go with shorts&nbsp;for all the reasons listed above. For someone taller the leg shortening effect of dark sandals is not so strong, for someone with dark hair the dark sandals would have a bookend effect, etc....but I am neither. I have a hesitation about those sandals with this particular outfit and I think it is the ankle strap not the colour. If you look at your photo straight on, there are many strong horizontal lines- the bottom of the top, the edge of the shorts, and then several horizontal lines of the sandals. I don't have a proper fashion term for describing what I mean, but when choosing some of my own shoes I don't like to do what I call "cut off my legs", which I think these do. Perhaps I mean that it is the opposite of lengthening the leg line. Angie might possibly weigh in on what I am trying ( badly) to express.
