Parsley, I wondered about that too as long as the lining is going to be separated from the sleeve anyway. I dropped it off today, I'll call and ask.

Couldn't she just taper the shortened sleeves?
Then you should have enough of the trim, and it will probably look better, too.

I would still shorten the sleeves because there are going to be times you won't want to roll them. The jacket will still look good.

Thanks Donna, guess I'll go ahead and have them shortened. The jacket won't have the same aestethic, but will be more functional for me. Oh, and mine is navy so we're not quite twins : )

FWIW, I just bought a similar tipped knit blazer (DKNY Jeans brand) and the sleeves are completely UNtrimmed, so yours won't look completely weird if you do shorten them; we'll just look like jacket twinnies if you got the gray one. Good thing mine are untrimmed because they are a little long for me so I have to tuck them up.

A consideration that never crossed my mind. Took the blazer to my seamstress today and she says that because of the taper of the sleeves there won't be enough of the black trim to reuse on the shortened sleeve. Now I have to decide if I live with long sleeves that need to be constantly rolled so the black band doesn't show anyway, or just have them shortened with no band. She says any trim I find at the fabric store is likely to be cotton while what is there now is likely rayon. Nuts. Another decision to make.
