I've never liked high heels with short skirts or leggings -- particularly on myself. I'm OK with skinny jeans and heels, as long as the skinnies are true jeans and not painted-on leggings. To me, the heel plus the lack of volume on the lower half makes the woman look like she's going to topple over. This effect is worse if the woman is tall and slim, or if (like me) she's got IT tendencies to begin with.</p> <p>I DO like the look of short skirts with tall (but flat) boots, though. Or flat oxfords. All good points - optical length of leg from hem to shoe, the hem type, and while the girl was young, she wasn't a school girl... it being mid-morning and obviously she was not at school (!). Although, it would have been an odd outfit for class too I think. Too dressy. She didn't look bad by any means, I should say. It doesn't "look" like a dress, it looks like a sweater. The shape of the hem can create the same effect. I saw a young lady in a short shirt-tail hemmed dress. She wore lacy stockings and heels. I was at my nephews Bar Mitzvah and all his female friends wore them except for one. We were feeling a bit sorry for this girl because she was obviously the odd one out, however, she was the only one who could move around in comfort! No one else could sit without exposing their undies and netherworld! Nothing cheap and sleazy, but I realised I don't like the proportions. Same problem as leggings as pants. Just looked to me like someone forgot the bottom part of their outfit. </p> <p>I was just thinking, how strange it should strike me that way. Have to think about that. Maybe a coat would have made it all different for me... </p>
