It just helps give my hair some separation and texture (so I get those neat little flippies at the ends). They (Aveda) have lots of volumizing products though, but I think the best thing for volume is to add a lot of layers. Mine does not look good when it's all one length. </p> <p>I have used Phomollient and the volumizing spray and both worked but only if I blowdried it. We let him grow it out once, but he is too "pretty" and has wavy hair, so he looked like a girl. So, now we pretty much insist on a short cut. Anyway, he likes to spike it, and I found this product called "spiker" made by Joico. It's a "water resistant glue". I don't know if it would be too thick for you, but man does that stuff work! I bought it at CVS. They really are the headband hotspot. I probably spent at least half an hour trying on different styles.
