Thanks for the info. I think I have tried the Marisa style before and didn't like it but I think it was the chino style and that just doesn't do much for me in general. Maybe I should give them another try.

Thanks for the wonderful reviews, Juniper Green. YAY! You got the most important items on your shopping list - pants. Well done.

Fab frocks too. Can you wear them over the Uniqlo skinnies?

I hereby crown you Queen Good Witch.

RobinF - I don't have a particularly defined waist either and find the J Crew ones can be good, though the fit varies when they change up the styles season to season. I was surprised to really like these high rise trousers and think it has to do with the stretch.

I like Loft's skinny and straight leg pants in their Marisa cut - it's a straighter up and down fit (compared to the Julie for a curvier fit) so those might be worth a try too. I'm not the biggest fan of Loft for quality but a few pairs of their pants have been winners for me.

Great reviews, thank you! I am always looking for nice work pants and love the J. Crew ones. How do they fit in waist and hips? I have a thick waist and narrow hips so it is hard to find pants that fit well but sometimes if they run narrow they work.

Great reviews! I wondered about the Everlane silk shirt but I am not going to order one now. I want something more substantial. The dresses are very cute.

Thanks all!

Hola - I was surprised just how sheer the white silk was! I would love to hear how the black works for you since I loved the fit and feel. The everlane work pant is definitely more like a legging than a trouser - if you ever tried the J Crew Minnie it was kind of like that. There’s a side zip and a lot of stretch to the waist band - but unlike the Minnie the fit of the leg is skinny without being skin-tight. If you like the look of the BR Sloane I think it’s worth a try.

What good success. How nice to have work pants. I’ve looked at the JCrew pants before online, but never tried on as I have no near store. Glad the Loft dresses were a success too.

So helpful, thank you! I was considering the white silk blouse, but maybe I’ll go for the black instead...

For the work pant: do you have any idea how they compare to the Banana Republic Sloan’s in terms of fit and feel? I love the pin tuck at the back and the side zip.

Went to the mall this weekend to replace a bunch of my baggy work clothes, and my Everlane order arrived yesterday. Fit and function were my priorities since I didn't have a lot of options to put together work outfits, but I was also hoping to lighten and brighten my wardrobe and avoid lots of black. Alas, that wasn't to be, but it's still a goal I have in the back of my mind, and I am more likely to pair black with lighter toned pieces when I can.

Here's where I netted out:
1 - Everlane Pima Scoop Neck in White - too clingy, I might exchange for one size up
2 - Everlane Clean Silk Shirt in White - SHEER! Going back!
3 - Everlane Straight Leg Crop in Bone - not at all flattering on me and going back
4 - Everlane Work Pant in Navy - LOVE them and am wearing them today! Would definitely order again in other colors.
5 - J Crew High Rise Cameron Pant in Black - another great work pant! The rise is great and the fabric is substantial.
6 - J Crew High Rise Stretchy Toothpick Jean in Black - My old black Uniqlo jeans were really bagged out in the seat and waist and I'm just delighted to have denim that FITS and can also be appropriate for casual days at work.
7 - Loft Floral Tie Neck Flare Dress - a flattering style that makes me feel witchy... in a good way
8 - Loft Fringe Tweed Sheath Dress - a pick from my mom who helped me shop, a good addition in my effort to brighten and lighten my wardrobe. Will be great with nude pumps ... or with a denim jacket and white sneakers.
9 - Loft Floral Flare Wrap Dress - moody floral, very flattering, and great with flat knee-high black boots.

I still need white jeans and white trousers/pants, but that feels less urgent now and I am feeling MUCH better about being sorted for work.
