I have added six pieces to my wardrobe: Two pairs of shorts (Lululemon) One pair of wide-legged Yoga pants (Lululemon) One sweatshirt (Merrell) One tote bag (Duluth Trading) One cross-body bag (Gucci - vintage) I bought most of these in Florida and put them to good use.  I wore the shorts daily and the Yoga pants several times.  I use the tote bag all the time. On our way down to Florida, we stopped in Cincinnati, and I entered Duluth Trading.  Mr. SF got a new wallet, Garth got a new toy, and I got a new tote bag.  Presents for everyone. Clothing = 9 additions - all thrifted; 1 charcoal grey long knit sweater, Italian made, already worn plenty.  The other 8 are unworn as yet and in anticipation of summer.  1 white cotton pencil skirt - previously I wore one until it literally tore from so much wear.  1 black cotton cargo skirt.  1 black/white gingham pencil skirt.  1 white T-shirt made from recycled plastic coke bottles, with coca-cola logo (NWT).  1 light grey (with a gold shimmer) T with interesting cocoon sleeves and rolled neckline.  1 Fucshia Pink floaty, sleeveless button through midi dress, Italian made, viscose light weight summer item.  1 Navy pair of knee-length athleisure joggers, Italian label Macron (NWT).  1 cool mocha brown pair of linen/cotton Italian made trousers with a similar silhouette to parachute pants.   I have edited out 12 items so far and will do another 6 when it warms up as per my 1 in 2 out policy. I did also refresh shoes; 5 pairs.  Black Knitted Sneakers, Blush Knitted Sneakers, Black square-toed ballet flats, Navy blue combat boots, yellow chunky sports sandal with quirky black heel with silver graffiti. I probably will not go thrifting for a few months as I am satisfied with my new pieces. My one big style boost was adding a v-neck button-front sweater vest from Alex Mill. I've been wanting this style for several years, but up 'til now none of the colours spoke to me. It's such a great layering piece. Came with me to NYC and was perfect for late winter/early spring weather. I also added two ribbed long-sleeve tops, duplicates of a black one I already have and love. They are, again, perfect layering pieces, and I wear them all the time. I found a pair of pleated khakis at the consignment shop that came home with me. They are a bit too big in the waist and I should probably have them altered, but the volume on the legs is great and they're a yummy warm colour (much closer to toffee than the beige in the photo). I also picked up a hiking dress from a small "cottage" gear maker I really like and admire since she was having a sale. I have one of the skirts that she makes, but the dress is even better! That makes five new additions. I need to order a couple pairs of replacement running shoes soon, and would like some new sleep/lounge shorts. I have more summer clothes than I have time to wear, so probably won't add much else until autumn rolls around.  I've tried and returned a few duds but honestly haven't been shopping much for the past couple of months. I lost two dear and inspiring friends in early March (both my age -- late 30s) in two separate and completely unexpected ways, and it has altered my priorities pretty significantly. Shopping doesn't feel very compelling at the moment. The white pants and the striped sweater in particular are timeless. I've bought more than I planned (22 things), but still much less than last year at this point, and I cleared out 54 items. I'll take that. I just ordered two pretty summer tops as it seems my summer closet leans HEAVILY toward sport/athletic wear. So many t-shirts! I also found the perfect shorts last summer and bought four pairs. Eeek. The superstars in 2023 so far are my Cos vest, side stripe jeans, and my first ever Doc Martens. They all have a certain cool girl factor that I am always chasing. Our weather has been hot/cold/hot so I've gotten a lot of wear out of these three. Although the '90s was not my favourite fashion era, it borrowed from the '80s and '70s - which are eras I LOVE. So I'm finding lots of fab stuff!  The larger assortment of natural fibres this season is GREAT. And so is the fact that most retailers we share on YLF are producing more sustainably and ethically. So called fast fashion brands are absolutely doing their bit too. It's something we can worry about much less than we used to. That has helped! Gear - one lilac merino sweatshirt, one black merino top, one pair runners, one merino tee and was gifted a blush sweatshirt by a friend (for lounging) Accessory - one second hand bag (love) Bottoms - one pair denim shorts, one pair wide leg and pair black joggers with a white stripe (all replacements) Dress - 70s style dress - worn once, will get second wear this weekend Blazers - cream linen (second hand, worn 6 or so times in two months) and a black tuxedo (second hand, worn once) - I don't have a find for this. I am trying not to shop for the next month - my next things will be a couple of pieces of gear and potentially some new shoes (thinking Mary Jane's) and "maybe" new jeans - I have not shopped for jeans in two years so it feels like it could be time! I really wanted to lean into my neutral and essential style, focus on refreshing silhouettes, and avoid overly planning my shopping; rather I wanted to be led primarily by my own instincts. So far, I am feeling pretty good! Here's what I've bought: - 13 items total, including clothing, accessories, shoes and gear. There is always the chance I've missed an item, so apologies if so, but I think this is pretty accurate (my Finds shows 12 and is missing one item). - 3 pairs of shoes: Blondo boots, which are already workhorses, heeled sock boots which filled a wardrobe hole for a dressy cold weather shoe (won't get loads of wear but fills a need), new Birkies for summer, a sure-to-be workhorse - 2 accessories: a black belt and a 2-pack of sunnies from Amazon (only needed 1 but they can as 2; one will stay in the car) - 2 gear pieces: black flare yoga pants and bright blue sweatshirt (both frequently worn for my morning walks and lounging) - 5 tops: a striped quarter zip sweater, greige sweater and charcoal turtleneck that have all been workhorses, a white linen shirt (new, not yet worn), and a black blouse (worn several times) - 1 pants: loose straight jeans, workhorses thus far and I anticipate wearing them alot through spring and cooler summer days Feeling fairly good about my wardrobe right not and not feeling overly compelled to shop. I do have an event to shop for and that will be my focus for the remainder of May! How's your shopping year going so far? Are you finding what you're looking for? Having good or back luck?
