Thanks Helena - a boxy field jacket could work well.

Realistically this is what I have to pull from already in the closet. I don't wear the blazers all that much outside work (maybe occasionally with jeans at night) and the denim is not always in favour.

I saw a Scotch and Soda embroidered bomber last year that I should have purchased, the two patterned bombers below are not right (first one is too muted, second is a bit too curtain fabric) but something along these lines is appealing to me too.

Great plans Sal! My other thought for a layering piece is a cropped trench-ish style or sort of boxy field jacket ... I am looking at both styles for a late summer layer.

Thanks Bijou, Angie, Roberta and Suz.

I don't plan to get rid of the denim jacket quite yet.....springs can be just so variable here.

I love bomber jackets and a light one could work really well. I haven't really ever been a moto jacket person, and I do like blazers but mostly wear to work. A tweed jacket or a light quilted jacket are other options.

We definitely have the weather that you always take a topper along - but don't always wear it. So I need versatility without over investment.

Sal, how about a tan bomber? You wear those rich tans soooo well! Gorgeous with your hair. Like the colour of my Spring trench below. It adds lightness to your darks, and works well with pastels, brights, neutrals, and mid-tones.

Something like the Athleta bomber I have in ink blue - you could do in th the tan:

https://athleta.gap.com/browse.....1&

I always have a plan, even if I don't stick to it. :-)

I want to try the Everlane barrel pants, because they're such a good color of reddish brown. If they don't work out, then I should be done for the year. I have enough of . . . everything.

That red dress is excellent AND versatile.

Casual spring toppers can be tricky, especially if a denim jacket is not something you like to wear. I like my summer weight blazers with jeans when working, but they feel too corporate for weekends. I hope you find something that works for you.

Haha Star - you are a "star" thrifter:) We have all done that.

Like your direction Brooklyn - definitely a moody edgy influence that will work brilliantly. I agree, getting some texture would be fun in spring. Spring is a bit temperamental here but a couple of layers are needed.

My jacket/topper collection that I would wear in spring is below but..

1) I am probably donating the red leather jacket back to my friend who gave it to me.
2) I haven't worn the denim over the last 12 months
3) The black tuxedo has specific evening uses only

It's definitely an area I often/always struggle with.

Thanks Angie and Jenny - I loved that red dress online and will try it. It looks like a good level of formality for my workplace and for the odd social event too especially leading into Christmas.

Lisa - will see if I stick to the plan:)

Sounds like you have a well thought out plan. I had saved a large portion of my wardrobe budget this year for NAS and was able to do a big refresh because of it. When you shop with a plan it makes things so much easier.

Layering jackets in the spring with blouses is always a nice look for that juxtaposition of structured (with a jacket) and soft (with say a blouse).

Good luck with your shopping!

Sandals are great and practical for NZ so good idea refreshing those.

I like that red dress for you. I would look for a textured sweater: ribbing, open knit, boucle or a self pattern. Or maybe a metallic?

I’m only thinking about Spring at this point. My plan is more general than yours! 3 main formulas for everyday wear:
1: long, relaxed fit jeans or flares + tee + lightweight jumper or jacket + boots or sneakers
2: cargo pants + tee + lightweight jumper or jacket + boots or sneakers
3: long denim skirt + tee + lightweight jumper or jacket + mid calf boots

I’m already set for 1 and 2. I’ve bought a couple of denim skirts for no 3. There may be some overdyeing going on

Hi All

I am on a no shopping until the end of August. But I am planning what I will add in for spring and summer after that.....always fun to have some plans.

1) Work dress - keen on navy, midi, sleeves with some interesting cut or something.... this could be hard:) I do like this red one a lot too.
2) Replacement skirt for my ripped one - hoping something with volume and swirl and movement
3) New sandals - always keen for an update here- my current spring and summer collection is below.
4) Jacket or cardigan or sweater for spring layering - open to ideas here. I added the olive satin bomber (find) last summer but keen on something different - lighter - or patterned? I don't do all that well with short cardigans so jackets or sweaters might be better.

I suspect there might be a basic top or two as well, but trying to be one in and one out with these right now.

Thanks for looking.
