Thanks for the kind words Sharan. I really am much more of an emotional shopper. This is not how I am naturally. But now that I am retired and travelling more I feel the need for a different approach to shopping. Also my wardrobe needs to function better.
Nomad I am glad to be motivating! I really like the copper cardigan. It was hard to find a shorter cardigan with a substantial weight that was an earth tone.

This is inspiring, and kind of what I've been trying to do for the last several months.
Thanks for helping motivate me to codify what I have and what I need!
sound like we have somewhat similar needs- I just ordered some blundstone to try on, and that copper cardigan is great!

Nice work, Style Fan! I admire your organization. My approach to wardrobe refreshing is so much more emotional and haphazard; I enjoy seeing others' methods. I like your picks--I can see you in them. The shoes are a cool-looking style.

Thank you Bijou. I have been looking for a chocolate brown bag. Maybe I will find one in Montreal.
Thank you Chris. We moved to the Muskoka area about 5 years ago when we retired. It is very beautiful but also it can feel a bit isolated at times.
La Ped it is difficult to replace footwear but my feet are in bad shape. And I love to walk. I keep hoping that someday I will find that perfect pair of shoes that will magically be comfortably. Blundstones are popular here as well. They do seem to hold up for a long time.

I love how cohesive and concise your list is. I'm working on a similar winter list. It's hard replacing a lot of footwear and outerwear all at once!

FWIW, I added Blundstones this fall, after thinking about them for many years. They are pretty comfortable -- high enough volume to add a wool or shearling insole for a little extra warmth in winter, which I like. They're very common where I live. Probably 20-30% of the people I see on any given day are wearing them (more so women than men, but they are popular among both genders). They feel like they'll last a long time, and still look good once they've been mucked around in (I need shoes that tolerate a little bit of RATE -- I cannot keep my shoes looking polished!).

Love your approach and lists. I need to do something very similar and will take this as inspiration. Your style is a lot like one of mine, but your looks are a lot more cohesive

Do you live in the Muskoka Lakes area? DH and I visited that area a few years ago for a long weekend. It was very beautiful and quite, a lot like northern New England but probably a little bit colder/longer winter.

Sterling I will try to audit my bag collection but we are leaving for a month in Montreal and then we are back for Christmas. After that we are going to Florida for 2 months. Auditing bags has to wait until next year. You don't want to know how I store my bags. I am working on a solution to that.
Our climates are probably different. Also our lifestyles may be different. I am retired. Mostly. I teach very part time at a university but I wear dark jeans and sit down. :) The students wear shorts. They are summer courses. Pretty relaxed atmosphere.

Style Fan -- please do audit your bag collection. It seems that my bag collection has exploded in numbers. I'd also be curious as to how you store your bag collection.

Your list is comprehensive. I was going to use it as a cheat sheet for my self .... but you know nothing on your list worked for me and my climate.

I have finished my wardrobe audit for now. I may audit my accessories, jewellery and bags later. I have already done some shopping so I need to do my shopping list to keep ahead of myself.
While doing the wardrobe audit it became clear to me that I have evolved into a certain style of dressing. I will do another post on that. The short version is that I tend to dress in the same silhouette and use accessories, jewellery and bags to create interest. Think Jennifer Aniston. I am very comfortable with this style of dressing and plan to continue with this.

I am also not auditing my gear or yoga clothes. That is not terribly interesting to me. I am shopping for yoga clothes in Montreal (Lululemon, Lole and some independent Quebec stores).

Shopping List 2016 - 2017 Part One (Cooler Weather)
I may not be able to find all these items and that is okay

1/ Down vest or furry vest in earth tone
2/ Spring and Autumn coat to replace my olive green fuzzy coat that is really not appropriate to wear in public anymore - needs to have good pockets for dog treats and dog bags, etc.
3/ Cardigan
4/ Footwear for Autumn and Spring
5/ Footwear for Winter - Snowboots (my Sorels could make another year)
6/ Footwear for Winter - Walking - to replace winter hiking boots - I am curious about winter Blundstones - several people in Muskoka have them and give amazing reviews. They get great reviews online. They also fit with my style.
7/ Long sleeved T shirts - a couple of mine were wearing out
8/ Corduroy Jeans
9/ Paisley Scarf
10/ New Bag in Chocolate Brown
11/ Chocolate Brown gloves

Shopping Successes to Date
I already have found some of the above items

3/ Cardigan - I was in the Toronto area and found a cashmere cardigan in a copper colour that I liked at Ann Taylor. See Finds
4/ Footwear for Autumn - I found these shoes and so far they are reasonable comfortable. They are in black. I would have loved them in the burgundy colour but they are not available here in that colour. See Finds
7/ I have bought 2 Ts..One is a cognac Henley from Roots and the other is dark brown scoop neck from Marks Work Warehouse. So far they have been great.

Addition

I found a pair of snowboots that are comfortable and tick all the boxes. Yeah! They are Clarks which I have had good luck with in the past. I put them in finds. They get great reviews. I bought them at our local shoe stores which has a small but good selection of footwear.
