Joy-- thanks for the idea-- I'm hard to fit in both flats and pumps (which is probably a big reason why I don't own a pair-- haven't made it a priority) but if I see a nice mixed metallic I will definitely try on. I may be asking too much out of these 2 pairs of shoes, but I would love something flat I could wear to work in the summer with jeans or a skirt but also wear to some events, and pumps I could wear to a gallery opening with a column of black look, out to dinner, or to a more somber occasion.

Elly, there are metallics that seem to blend with either silver or gold like a greyed or tarnished bronze or taupey silver.

Some things I am really inspired to hunt down because I think they will be insanely practical for my lifestyle or have been something I've been aching to own for a while now. That said, I won't turn down alternative pieces that I stumble across when shopping for other items, so long as they fufill similar purposes. Luckily, I don't often have an opportunity to browse in store, which cuts down on impulse buys. Plus, I always try on and have a pretty good sense of what "feels" like me, and have been pretty sucessful in the last couple of years avoiding items that don't work with anything else I already own. So here is to hoping!

If anything I will probably end up with fewer pieces than outlined here, simply because I won't find everything I want (esp. not within my budget).

Great list! Will you be able to stick to it? I try to plan ahead, too, but it's difficult not to get sidetracked. This year I'l be focusing on my fall/winter pieces since I upgraded my spring/summer wardrobe quite heavily last year.

Lisa-- that is a great question. I probably won't space out the shopping much-- just enough to make sure new purchases get worn and tested out right away so I know I am going the right direction. I know that the sassy sweatshirts are high priority since I could be using them now and will continue to use them through the summer season. At least one nice black pullover sweater would also be great for several upcoming events. I also know that if I am going to pick up anything else that screams winter it will have to be now, even though I have 4 months left.

Beyond that, I know I will be doing a lot of shopping (hopefully) when I make trips to the city in late march and early april. I hope to pick up a few items on clearance if the bargain is right, but mostly shop for spring. Bras and denim will also be on the list. I could probably squeeze a trip to shop in ABQ in in the early summer or early fall with my mother. Everything else will have to be online.

Then I plan on shopping NAS, and shopping early for fall. I think I will try to utilize transitional seasons to shop for the blouses for work.

Isabel-- I don't have a limited color pallette in mind like some ladies use. However, most of my bottoms are neutrals (denim, black, grey/dark brown) and most of the jackets I will be purchasing should also be neutrals (olive, navy or charcoal or black). I already own two pairs of burgundy/dark red shoes, so that comes into play somewhere-- but the new boots only look off when worn with hot pink-- for the most part they function as neutrals. My glasses are black/charcoal and purple, but once again, they pretty much look good with anything. However, I do wear a lot of black and will be purchasing a bit more of it. Beyond that-- I'm naturally drawn to the warm colors (red, purple, orange, coral, golden yellow, camel, greens) but I have and wear blue and turquoise.

I do want to make sure whatever knit skirt (the last one was horrible for finding tops to go with-- but it still got worn a ton) I purchase has a lot of pair options, as well as the two colored sweaters with my blouses. Picking a color for shoes will also be a challenge, since my first reaction is to go looking for ORANGE or RED flats and RED heels--- but am concern that that would limit their versatility since my only dresses currently are white blue and green jersey numbers, and I don't know how I feel about orange flats under my column of black or worn to job interviews or funerals. Instead maybe I will try a subtle metallic, but since I wear both metals that also leaves me torn.

Most of the summer items are items I am replacing from 2009 (I was living in southern NM at the time, so had a large warm weather wardrobe that I've been using for our shorter summers since then). Many of the winter items are also replacements, but not necessarily of very similar items . . . Perhaps a jacket in for a jacket out, but most of the purchasing will be replacing or adding to my work wardrobe since this is the first time in a few years that I've worked full-time.
