Sounds like you had a fun time!

It's been my experience when you try to find something specific, it's always a hair-pulling experience. The needle in the haystack. It's so much easier to find something when that something could be anything (!!)

It was so fun to read about your sister time and your celeb time! But I can understand how exhausted you are! Just hearing about the crowds and the celeb rush at Sundance made me tired. So nice to have you back.
I've been doing so much less shopping lately -- waiting for spring, which is miles and miles away. I have to stumble upon something at this point. I know I'll be recharged and ready when the air warms again.
Sorry you didn't ski! But there is plenty of snow in New England. :)

Wow, you got to go to the AGOT party! (nice alliteration)
Pure envy beaming your way.
I think with the shopping exhaustion it's a case of sitiing back and waiting for the relevant celestial bodies to align.
Or, you might simply be travel weary.

I think its normal to be worn out from fashion and a weekend of celebrity spotting. I mean, its so much time and energy that we all spend on this type of consumption, some could call it art, but for most of us, fashion is a question of fitting in and not looking ridiculous, trying to look our best, but desperately trying to keep up with what that means... Take some time doing things that help you feel grounded and good about the world. The answer to happiness is not a furry vest, even though it does feel good for a few minutes

Sorry you couldn't find what you were after, but maybe the thing with HEWI's is that you have to just happen upon them when you least expect it, kinda like true love Cute beanie pic btw

Glad you had a great time at Sundance! Bradley Cooper was here where I live filming a movie a few years back ("The Place Beyond the Pines") and I was hoping to meet him - they did a lot of filming at the high school - but alas, it was not to be.
I have at times felt exasperated with shopping for certain items. It's depressing when the perfect fit, perfect item just isn't out there. Not only that, but it takes up a lot of time which is always in short supply. When that happens, I stop looking. And you know what? That's when I usually find it!

Sounds so wonderful! Coincidentally I have also spent the past week with my sister so I will come at this from a different perspective. I think after a very emotionally fulfilling week with a beloved sister (or friend, or brother, or whoever you don't see all the time) some of your shopping/hunting emotional energy is either spent or fulfilled depending how you look at it. Once you readjust to the usual (which is not to say the usual isn't fulfilling, but we do get used to our routine) you may have more HEWI hunting willpower. Hope that makes sense!

That sounds like such a perfect trip, Una.

I think one reason I like consignment shopping is that I can't really search for HEWIs. It's more the luck of the draw. That has some big downsides too, but I'd explode from OCD or anxiety or something if I went on more HEWI searches than I do now.

April, you might try calling a Club Monaco store? I've often found things in stores that are sold out online, and they might be able to locate it at any store and ship it.

Sounds like good fun. About shopping fatigue...I think it's the time of year. February is for u-wear, but otherwise I do a SYC December through March until things pick up on the retail front. It was in the -30's this am, and felt like -42 due to windchill. I am so tired of it....

Oh, I've totally given up on HEWIs before. I'm convinced that is when you will stumble on them. Right after you entirely give up on them.

This year, I've given up (again, for like the third year running) on refined, pointy-toed, lower-heeled black tall boots to wear with skirts. Only very nice leather need apply. Mine that I'm trying to replace are pretty much done in. They have that ragged, about-to-wear-through texture on the outside of the foot that means they aren't long for this world. I bought a pair of Tsubos from Amazon that for ten brief minutes I thought were finally it. Then they started slumping around my ankles. Sadness. So, I'll join you on the "I'm not waiting for you anymore (at least for now), HEWI!" bench and we'll have some snacks and cocktails and maybe do a little mani pedi thing and call it good. 'Cause goodness knows my toes aren't going to be covered by my HEWI boots. And maybe we'll talk a little smack about our HEWIs and go on about how we didn't really want or love them that much anyhow...at least for now.

On line searching for that elusive garment, keeping up with my favourite blogs, thinking about what combos I can come up with in my wardrobe and an ongoing focus on developing and assessing my style lol...I need a holiday!

So glad you're back, Una! While you were out, I actually found the perfect (pour moi) faux fur vest and it was gone in all but size Large. Seamstress said she can't alter much due to pockets. It was this one: http://www.shopbop.com/natasha.....rg-2178999 Very tiring to keep looking for something and not finding it.

I've sort of given up on the vest hunt and the current frustration is black booties.

Er, no. We were in a hotel! But I believe it!
