Alberta Street is great for fabric---I always go to BOLT and MODERN DOMESTIC to buy fabric/notions, and then there is a fantastic shoe store (PedX) too. For food, also on Alberta, there are lots of quality choices but I usually visit Pine State Biscuits and Salt and Straw for ice cream. Anything in particular that you are interested in? In the Pearl District, I like to visit PorchLight for odds and ends---and for paper goods, Oblation is wonderful with several working presses. There's a very selective, very beautiful shoe store---HALO, also in the Pearl District. Oh my, I want to go to Portland! Great bike stores, too, if that's of interest to you...

Cargo has moved to the eastside industrial district, 81 SE Yamhill. I agree, a great place to visit.

For clothes, try Mink, 3418 SE Hawthorne, Adorn at 3366 SE Division. There are also great restaurants and bars all over SE Division. If you like unique fragrances, it's fun to go to Fumerie Parfumerie, 3584 SE Division.

I always like to stop in at Margaret OLeary on 23rd. And, I would add, stop in at Cargo (Pearl District) -- it is an AMAZING place. You might find clothing there if you like ethnically inspired items, but there is so much more to peruse: local jewelry, housewares, decor, antiques, and the store itself is just like nowhere you've ever been. So worth the trip, such a visual experience.

Thanks for that link to Frances May, Anna. Definitely going there!

Been a while, but I loved Alberta District for independent boutiques and Beaumont village for wandering and eating (this is where our family lived).

We also hung out in the city and went to the Nike store and of course Powells bookstore.

Northwest Portland, 23rd and 21st, north of Burnside has a great selection of restaurants and shops, especially 23rd.

Hawthorne area is also good.

https://www.travelportland.com.....s-regions/

ETA I don't think the outlet mall is worth the trip, it's a ways south

Any particular favorites to look out for? I know there's a couple Nordstroms, the Pendleton outlet, and the outlet mall south of town.
