Just wanted to add that I'm beyond happy with the boots! I got them this morning and have worn them to work and running errands. SUPER comfy (!!), insulating and classic. And I came to realize that I like black footwear for winter. I'm happy with fun tops/toppers, outerwear and scarves as the party. I crave more shoe variety in late spring, summer and early fall.

Thank you all! Your comments are really appreciated! Angie, of course you love a bright yellow and happy plaid. :-)

I'll go back tomorrow morning and get them. I know the foot bed will work out fine because they were cushioned and soft. Kathie, I'm pretty sure I can take them home and do an indoor test drive for a few days to be 100% sure.

Here is a link with a description of the boots. I know the brand well and the quality is always great. https://www.fruugo.co.uk/gabor.....8-24701456

fashiontern - I'm sorry I didn't explain myself well about "stocking up". Angie's main point is to "Stock up on sartorial favourites when they’re on trend and wear the heck out of them." Her post from April explains it well. And her post about Comfy Tall Boots for Narrow Calves. I think it makes perfectly sense.

My calf circumference is about average, but I need a shorter shaft length than regular, hence the struggle to find a good fit.

I love tall boots (always have) and they are perfect for my climate (who came up with booties in arctic winter??), but I have not had much luck for several seasons. This season I've been very lucky and have already bought three pairs: black suede OTK with block heel, blue suede OTK with 1 inch heel and taupe knee-high boots. BUT I just realized that I can't wear the suede boots in snow without ruining them. And I would really love to wear my midi skirts with heeled knee-high boots when it's cold (I reach for the midi skirts, but lack heeled boots). I know for sure that heeled knee-high boots will get a lot of wear. Hope this makes it all a bit clearer. :-)

Thanks for the clarification. The picture is a bit dark, and I can't see much detail, but from what I can see, the top of the shaft of the boot looks fine. Can you take them home, and walk around in them for an hour or so, to check fit for sure?

I don’t see any gaping at the top of the shaft. I’d say buy them except for your comment about stocking up. I think footwear needs to get a stronger response than that before purchasing.

Christina F - yes, the sole is grippy. I agree - that's very important! I too have problems finding the right shaft height. That's why I want to get these, because it is so rare and I've been on the lookout for many seasons. I guess my main question is about the fit around the top of the shaft.

Thanks! Your comments and questions always clarifies my reasoning.

Kathie - Yes, I can walk comfortably in them, also in the snow. I forgot to mention that I'm looking for a dressy/ work wear option and that's the reason I want a higher heel. I have casual low heeled/flat boots for snowy, icy and wet weather.
Suz - you are spot on about plowed city sidewalks! I knew you're good at reading my mind! Your boots look fab and I'm looking for something similar to dress up or down. I did have two pairs many years ago, but they got worn out. The bright coat and plaid scarf always make me smile, especially this time of year when the daytime light only lasts a few hours.
Cardiff girl - The SA put the boots aside so I can think about it until tomorrow.

I find it hard to find boots of the exact right shaft height. So I think you could buy those if you aren't too bothered by the fact that they're not a bit lower. These look like they fit you well. Do they have grippy soles for bad weather? That would be the main question for me after I'd determined that they're comfortable enough,

The boots look great I can’t really advise you on whether to get them or not all I can say is that for me if I starting asking other people’s opinion on whether to buy or not it’s usually because there’s something I m unsure about. Can you walk away and think about it?or do they have to be purchased now or never?sometimes a little wander around another shop clarifies the situation.

Love seeing you in the bright coat and plaid scarf! So great on you. Also, WOW, I am swooning in envy of your boot collection! Absolutely gorgeous!

From what I can see in the photo, these look very good -- if the fit is good and comfort is there and the price is right, why not? I do wonder about that heel in the snow but I also know you're talking about plowed city sidewalks and work wear not hiking on the slopes and it does make a difference!

I have a pair of boots that are my most worn taller boots and they are similar. But the heel is a little blockier and more square. This makes it particularly stable. I like them because I can dress them up or down. If I could re-make them I would leave off the little buckle at the top because when I wear cropped skinnies over them it makes a bump. :)

Do you have concerns about the fit? Also, would you wear that heel height in snow? Or mostly just wet weather? From the pictures, I think they look great, and they seem to meet your requirements, but I would only buy them if they truly fit well.

I've been pondering over how many tall boots I need in my wardrobe.
I'd like to wear tall boots with my winter midi skirts because this combo keep me warm. And I'd like a heel about 2 inches/5 cm because I'm petite. But although I think I have a fair selection (#3 my tall/midi boots collection) that work well with my four season climate, I do not have heels over 1,2 inch/3 cm that is functional and comfy in snowy/wet winter weather. The ones I have are either for dry weather without snow/rain (suede OTK, mid-calf boots) or the heel is too high (the wedged ones, mid-calf).

I keep Angie's advise to stock up when you can in my mind, but wonder if I should be more patient?

(#1-2) I came across these heeled tall leather boots. The heel height is fine, they are comfy and not too high shafted (although 1/2 inch lower would be even better). What do you think of the fit?

Should I pull the trigger or be more patient?
