Thanks for posting about this web-based app, Laura. As you've already noted, it isn't an all-purpose closet app, but I think it will be useful for keeping up with orders and returns. It has already reminded me to return an item I had forgotten about!

Thanks, Laura. I'm sure you're right about how it's not in their best interest to highlight that. When we're back home, I might look into what kind of database it is/how it's set up behind the scenes, to see if I could export the data to an app that is focused on numbers, whether excel or something more specialized.

Still, very eye-opening! I looked at it again this morning and realized there was one order with 13 things that was in there twice, so it's not as dire as I thought, but still more than I expected.

Finery doesn't seem to have any financial component, other than a field for the price of each item. But it doesn't add up what you've spent, nothing like that. ClosetSpace occasionally volunteers the cost per wear of an item, but that's it. I can't ask how much I've spent this month or this year.

All these apps make their money by getting you to buy more stuff, so it's not in their interest for you to pay attention to what you've already spent.

Laura, thanks for posting about this website!

Once I went through and deleted everything I've returned, I found that I've bought 3 things per month for the past 17 months, not including shoes, bags, underwear, workout clothes, kids' clothes or special-occasion things. That's a lot.

I don't know if it can do $$, or how to use it to examine a specific period of time yet. If not, I'd like to find a way to export this database to an app that does those things.

Interesting. I might check it out. I find things like this interesting but then keeping up with everything becomes too time consuming for me. It's enough for me to manage my business and household accounts without separating out information about shopping for clothes. This is probably why I haven't been successful at tracking anything!!

Interesting. I have not used a closet or shopping app. I have a notebook (pen and paper) and I use finds on YLF.

I've gotten caught that way before! Part of me says I should get this app, but part says to just not order anything! I'll favorite this so I have it if/when I give in to temptation.

So yesterday I found a new online wardrobe organization app called Finery. I tried it just for curiosity's sake. I'm bringing it up here because it has one function that I think none of the other apps have: it imports your garments directly from your online purchase emails. So it has all the details like size and price. If you use mint.com, it's like that: goes to the sites where you do business and gets all the info in one place for you.

But most importantly, it knows how many days you have left to return each item and displays it prominently with the picture. I have a tendency to let the bags and boxes pile up until they blend into the background, and I've "bought" a lot of clothes I didn't want by forgetting to return them. So that picture of the unwanted item with a big number-of-days by it is helpful.

I'm happy with ClosetSpace for organizing and planning, but I think I'll use Finery as a mechanics-of-shopping aid.
