Hi Anne, looks like you already went on your trip? Great that you found some shoes. I just wanted to add that a little while ago, Aussie YLFers advised me that Australian brick and mortar shops seem to be trickling their stock in these days, so you may continue seeing more stuff come in over the next few weeks and beyond. So far I'm finding this to be true! The Sportsgirl and David Lawrence stuff I was looking at at in February is largely gone and they just got all new coats, dresses etc. It kind of puts us on the back foot with trying to be savvy shoppers as we don't know when to pounce and when to wait! Which is exactly what retailers want I guess! For us to grab stuff now *and* later...

Anne loafers would be great with boot cuts. I find.ballet flats to delicate and not substantial enough for boot cut jeans as Lyn says. Have a look on line at The shoe stores I mentioned earlier, also Aldo, Jane Debster as this could help you identify the shoes you want and save leg work.

Hi again from Melbourne.
Loafers are everywhere and do have a heel-I've been tempted by a pair of burgundy suede ones from Witchery. I think they are perfect with Bootcuts because they are a little more substantial than ballet flats.
Yes, unfortunately June holidays might be too late as the clearance sales start so early- just when Winter really sets in!
Sussan are always good for basic long sleeve T's and do have some skivvy-type tops this year. They also have some tunic-style knits but not as nice as the Cobalt blue one I purchased last year.
Nice to talk with another Aussie!

Lyn - oh that colour news is not good news!!! You are right - those are not the colours I like at all. And I was enjoying the bright colours, like cobalt, in the summer.
Good news on sizes.
I will definitely check out Target for jeans. I have 2 pairs of their bootcuts already which are so comfy (but one is faded and the other hemmed for heels, thus the need to get another pair)

Deborah - thanks for the specific shop references. I am not exactly sure what I'd like to go with bootcuts - maybe loafers? I don't like the feel of converse as I like a 1 inch heel on my flats. I guess something easy to slip on. My aim is too lift my outfits through better shoes but I do find attractive shoes that will stay on and be comfortable are a difficult find.

Your comment about lots of winter stock still to come is a bit worrying!!! I have found that to be true in other years. But when I have waited for the June School Hols to do winter shopping it is almost too late. *Sigh*

Hi Anne,

Flat boots - Rivers, Joanne Mercer, Sandler. Diana Ferrari have some lovely flat brown boots.

What sort of flats for your boot cuts? A flat ankle boot? Converse runners?

I saw nice turtlenecks in Dotti recently.

I'm looking for some jumpers too! Not sure where to look.

I agree with Lyn. Target is great for jeans. I would recommend them for your bootlegs.

I think there is still a lot more stock to come for winter as the stores still have a lot of summer stock they are trying to move.

Good luck... And have fun shopping.

Hi Anne, I'm from Melbourne. There is still alot of summer stuff on sale around but also new arrivals. I have similar colouring to you and am finding plenty of stock that is not great for my skin/eye tone- brown-oranges, orange-reds, beiges and the like. Good if you are trying not to overspend but frustrating otherwise!
Have you tried Target for Bootcut Jeans? The prices are good although they don't have half sizes and the fabric is pretty stretchy. Best to buy a firmish fit if you can! Target are also great for boots although not leather.
Harris Scarf are worth checking out for shoes too; some are leather and some not.
I think if you can find items that you like it is a good time to buy-plenty of size choice and lots of on-going sales.
Good-Luck!

Thanks Christianne - yes I must think about colours! (perhaps without being too prescriptive. I love the idea of a bright blue tartan shrunken stretch blazer - but that might be being a bit prescriptive!)

I have suddenly decided to go to the city in 2 days to visit a dear friend and incidentally, do my winter shopping!!! This saturday!!!!
I don't feel that I have thought this through enough and yet I am getting that feeling that it is time to get some new stuff.
Australians in cities, is there lots of winter stuff in the shops yet? Please post any recommendations! From what I can thin off the top of my head I am looking for
-flat boots (prob brown knee highs)
-a shrunken statement blazer -if these are still in fashion?
-some flats to wear with bootcut jeans and socks
- a few skivvies aka turtlenecks
- a casual stand alone sweater (jumper)

and if I can find them
-a knee length straight denim skirt WITHOUT a front zip
- bootcut jeans

I would LOVE any help you could offer
