Maybe I’m looking at this after you added #10, but I like them the best for shape and size of frame. After seeing #10, the others seem oversized to my eye.

I love the green too and liked the shape? I also liked 6 as something totally different from your current ones (which also look fab). I'm not a good glasses picker though - it's so confusing; such subtle differences between pairs. I think a light tortoise shell would also look awesome on you.

I really like your current pair. Of those you have tried I really like no 2 - great colors on you. The shape is also nice, but maybe tiny bit big - perhaps it is the selfie effect. I also like no 8 - very good color and the Versace gold and black look good too.

@kkards - exactly! I do have insurance which covers a portion of the cost once every 2 years. Unfortunately, the prescription for my right eye has changed significantly and I want to have a pair of back-up glasses - so a bigger outlay. I’ll get new lenses for my 2 yr old pair that I love so much, and keep on searching for a new pair.

@ElizabethP - I’ve been offered discounts/deals at two places I visited, but first I have to find frames that are a ‘10’. I think great specs are a HEWI of the first order!

the dreaded glasses shop...last time i updated i think it look me the better part of a year to find something I really liked...like you I wear progressives, so its expensive and time consuming so I want to make sure I get the right pair.

I like the tiffany pair #4, but if you don't love them, keep looking

I would vote for 1 and 5, but find it very hard to judge glasses. I used to wear extremely pricey ones too, starting as a small child, until I needed cataract surgery and now my nearsightedness is cured and I only need cheap reading glasses! I mostly wore contact lenses in recent years so I didn't need multiple pairs. If glasses are your thing and they are pricey, my view is go ahead and invest, they are necessary for you to function in the world, and are part of your look every single day. Multiple pairs is a good thing.

You know, I was musing yesterday about how impossible I would find it to get a tattoo. I have no desire for one, but even if I did, how would I pick one that I would always want to have in that spot, in every situation? Glasses aren’t quite that extreme—you can obviously take them off or get new pairs. But in terms of what percentage of your life an item has to be suited for, glasses are way, way up there.

@Liesbeth - you are so right about that feeling of ’rightness’ when you’ve got a winner! The heavens open and the angels sing!

@NancyW - when Angie duplicated a frame in another colour, I researched that option. Unfortunately the colours available aren’t a great option for me.

@Angie - you’ve summed up the consensus.

Thank you everyone, who’s advanced an opinion or provided an idea. It has all helped. I plan to keep looking. I would love to source frames in a green like the Staag pair, in a cats eye shape like my ‘old’ ones. Stay tuned!

PS: my favourites of the lot are the Staag ‘moss’ green round frames, and second place goes to the Versace gold and black cats eyes.

I feel your pain with the cost of new glasses. I have an odd prescription and so my glasses are unfortunately expensive simply because of the lenses. Luckily my eyes like contact lenses and so my times of wearing glasses is pretty limited and don't need to be updated very often.

I like 5 above all the other new to you frames. The cat's eye shape flatters more than the round I think, and I like the way the top part is strongly visible while the rest doesn't compete with your face.

I surprised myself by preferring this, because for my own self I abhor a cat's eye and I need strong contrast all the way around the frame. But these look like you.

Carla, I love your current pair and definitely think you should put the new lenses into those, particularly if you still love them!

I also really like #8. It's different enough from the others that you'd feel as if you are getting a real change. But as Deb said, do check the size of the older ones and compare to all the ones you have tried. Often they can order in the correct size for you to try if you are tempted by a frame but it is not in store in the right size.

Carla, what is the size listed on your current pair? I have found that the process is less stressful by ruling out those that are not the width that suits your face. For instance, 52 to 54 fits me best. I think #8 fits your face the best but I am not sure about the color.
