I feel your pain! Jeans have been a pain lately. The last two pairs of pants I bought have actually been jeggings, something I never thought I'd wear! But they're really comfy...now I just need a couple more tunics to go over them!

I know what you are saying about premium jeans but I have to tell you that in my opinion you always rock your jeans and pants and look fabulous in them.
Whenever you show new jeans I feel like I want to get the same ones!

Sweet, Janet. ((((HUGS)))). I can't tell you enough how GORGEOUS your body is. Strong, interesting, fit, healthy and beautiful. No wonder Jamie loves it! He should. And rest assured that we all have difficult to fit items. Models too. TRUST ME. It's true.

Question: were you fitting on premium denim only? If so - it has been a nightmare apart from BF styles, flares and culottes. Generally very wide on the waist, very narrow on the legs, short, whiskery, too stretchy and far too distressed. Plus at least 2 sizes smaller than they used to be. My clients definitely wear less premium denim than they used to. Me too.

Maybe some style changes are promoted to reduce manufacturing costs? Exposed zippers are easier to set than hidden ones, warped looking t shirts less expensive to produce than straight seams, and a lot of stretch in the fabric can mean less fabric.

I've been disappointed by default brands and items before too!

Sometimes it helps to really look at the item that didn't work, in the dressing room, immediately after you take it off. Measure the rise and the width of the legs on jeans with your hand and use that as a what not to do guide when choosing things. Same with the fabric content.

WTF is up with the super-tight legs on all the pants these days? I'm with you on this. I have different clothing challenges from you, and normally pants aren't the focus of my frustration, but many, many jeans I tried on in early summer (the last time I went jeans shopping) were too tight through the leg. Grrr.

Could you try buying ones that are too big in the waist, and having them taken in?

Totally with you. Paige was the only brand with a low enough rise for me at size 8/10 and now they don't fit in the thigh. Lucky brand is thin and icky. The only hing that fits me nowadays is levis but their fabric is thick.

Oh, I feel your pain. In a weird way, it's been convenient that I gained back some of the weight I lost last year, because I can fit in 0x and 14w in some brands right now, and the plus cut fits me so much better - don't know why there isn't a niche for not stick figure thin or straight, but not plus size pants....

Honestly, even when I was skinnier I found that the Anthro brands, J Crew, contemporary brands never fit me right; I was always making compromises and saying things were good enough when they weren't. My only solution has been to buy from brands that are thought of as more matronly and/or cheap, and just look for the more current cuts and colors in decent fabrics.

I actually did like the Pilcro chinos at Anthro -- theyre sort of a loose fit, and need to be rolled because they're too short to wear full length on me. But I kind of wanted something more interesting. I put on a couple of pairs of crops (one wide-leg and one with a narrow but flared leg) and couldn't take them off fast enough.

Una, i think so. Too short, too tight in the thigh. Story of my life. I tried on some cropped styles in Anthro too, but sizing was all over the place and a lot of "my size" (which it seems is anything from a 29 to a mythical 32, since one pair was tight in a 31, much to my alarm) was unavailable. Again, snug fits in hips and thigh, big waist, long rise. Horrible. Frump city.

On the plus side, tha SA helpfully told me that every top I put on looked great. Too bad about my lower half.

Ah well. I have my old jeans and pants so I won't lack for ways to cover myself. I guess the universe is telling me I don't need to spend money on that.

I did, however, bring home a pair of Paul Green tall black suede boots from Nordstrom Rack. I may post for feedback, but they're pretty sweet, I think.
