I get a lot of layering tanks from Old Navy and Target - the Mossimo (sp?) ones. They're usually longer than the tanks I find other places so they poke out from under other tops better. And they wear well also. Oh, and they're cheap. :-p

If you wear tissue layers (tees, turtlenecks, etc.) I get mine from JCrew; I use their tissue weight turtlenecks a TON in transitional weather, which lasts a long time where I live. Ann Taylor is good for basic layering tees, especially elbow length sleeved ones; I have also found their fine gauge knit turtlenecks to be decent, but they only last about a season or two since they have rayon in them. Tanks can be found all over. I get most of mine in trendy shades/prints from Target or Old Navy and they usually get replaced after one or two seasons.

I got a bunch of laced bottomed tanks from kholes....they are not holding up long term though. Going on about 6 months and they are fraying....so I don't know If I would recommend those unless you must have the lace. I do however recommend their long sleeve T's in the Jr.'s dept. The So brand ran about 8 bucks and they are holding very nicely after multiple washes. Ilike the texture on them. Target's tanks never work for me.....too small in the chest always.

I like Target and Nordstrom Rack for tees, and I like Nordstrom Rack for jeans and pants, but I don't shop at a wide variety of stores, so I'm looking forward to seeing other people's answers!

Angie, (and others),
where or what brand do you go to for your basics, like turtlenecks, tanks, basic sweaters,... the pieces you use for layering, etc...
