Sounds like you are good shape for winter:)

I am terrible at shopping bans. Debbiek and I even tried to be a support system one time, I think we both fessed up the first day!!!

When I have a slim wallet is my best motivation to not shop!!

Thanks Ladies,

Carole and Debbie sounds like deprivation works to make you want stuff - is that right?

I am hoping the budget will work well for me - I have often done it in the past, stemming from my teen years when I had a clothing allowance. I think though, that I had kidded myself that all those years meant I had an instinctive feel for how much I had spent and didn't have to actually keep track! But obviously I do.

I am only having the shopping ban because I have got most stuff on my winter shopping list anyway - it is just to make me avoid buying more things just because I like them.

I don't do well on bans, either. Seems like when I do, all I can think about is what I can't have. A budget is probably a good idea, I should probably try that nest. Let us know how it goes.

Anne, how coincidental. As I did laundry today, I thought that I have waaay to many clothes for summer considering it is NOT my predominant season. I became a YLFer late Winter so I also went a bit overboard for Spring/Summer.

So I was telling myself tonight that I can only get two things this Winter : a pair of high brown boots and a mechanical watch. The rest will be alot of thinking of new ways to wear what I have !!!!

I gave up on the shopping diet. I do better when I'm not on a shopping diet for some reason. I think your idea of the budget is good. I do try to stick to a monthly budget.
Like for NAS I have a number in mind and that is what I will try to stay within.

Well I have surprised myself again. I thought I was a reluctant shopper but over the last few days I have been totting up what I have spent on clothing so far in 2010 and the total is about $1100!!! (AUD) And that doesn't include that I spent the previous 6 months when I did most of my summer shopping.

I am a bit shocked as this year was not a year when I had a good reason for a big spendup (ie starting in the workforce, recovering prepregnancy size etc) and being a SAHM on a limited budget have no good reason to spend that much. I have fallen prey to Ezibuy!

The only mitigating factor is that about half of it was spent on foot wear, mostly on a new pair of orthotic friendly shoes and new running shoes. These are purchases that should last a few years.

So I have joined the ranks of the shopping ban/ shopping dieters. Have decided on no new purchases til spring and $520 (ie $10 a week) as my yearly budget for the next 12 months- $100 of which will have to come from a voucher I have from Myer (an Aussie department store).

How are those of you on bans and diets going?
