I can't help you with where to shop but want to say have a wonderful vacation ! I always look for neutrals in my leathers but more because I am fairly shy so as much as I would like to think I could pull off a red leather jacket I know I would just adore it hanging in my closet.

Yes it it a fab city! We were there 2 years ago and I got a great jacket, custom made at Poppy's on Florida Street (second floor). It took about 4 days for them to make it. My husband found his jacket at Antpiel. I can't give you the exact location but it was still in the touristy section around Florida Street. He bought off the rack and they did the alterations while we waited. I wish I had bought a purse and shoes too, but we were there just as the seasons were changing and the stock was a bit picked over.
good luck!

Hi ladies,
We are on a wonderful vacation in Buenos Aires - seriously love this city! It's my first visit since I spent Christmas 1986 here as a student. I have reconnected wtih the family who hosted me back then...very special experience.

Yesterday we switched apartments and moved to a different part of town for the 2nd half of our stay, and my husband scoped out "the" street for leather shops. It's not in the tourist area, so I hope that the prices are the best. We took a long walk, and a quick look as we needed to be somewhere last night, and we vowed to go back.

I get so intimidated by shopping in a foreign country. My Spanish is minimal, and I always feel like the more I make someone speak my language when I am in their country, the less chance of hearing the details or establishing the best relationship.....or getting the best bargain.

The dollar is strong here right now on the "green" market - the official rate is $1= 5 pesos, but we have been trading $1= 8 pesos. The jackets I was glancing at yesterday were between 800-1100 pesos.

First of all - does anyone have recent experience shopping in B.A.? Please send advice!

Second, what should I look for? I have seen some red leather that is catching my eye. I don't know if I would invest in a red leather jacket at home. Also, i really do need to replace my old, and too-big, Ann Taylor short, plain black leather jacket, so I'll be on the lookout. I have not seen blush....a little winter white.

We're looking for jackets for my guys too.

Gracias in advance.

WHAT A GREAT CITY!
