And how awful is it that I immediately thought it was “just another” mass shooting in the USA before I heard the location? That’s how common it has become here. We in the US have become increasingly desensitized to the madness. </p> <p>Between this awful news, the Brown shooting, and the killing of Rob Reiner and his wife, the sadness in the world feels overwhelming right now. And those are just the tip of the iceberg. This week or so before Christmas always feels at least a little sad to me (anniversary of my father’s sudden death 34 years ago), and these events are not helping. I know I’m not alone in struggling a little with this time of year.
