I'm revisiting this old topic briefly just to let you all know that I've finally tried insoles. They work great for taking up that extra space in my size 6 shoes. I still have to stuff the toes, but I'm not getting blisters any more. In the future, I think I will continue my new habit of buying shoes in 5 1/2s though, because they fit my little feet so much better.

Thanks for the tip Maya. I certainly don't buy cheep shoes to accomidate growing feet. My feet stopped growing 10 years ago. I buy cheep shoes because I seem to wear out my "everyday" shoes in a year or less regardless of what I paid for them. I haven't had any problems with my feet as a result of cheep shoes, but then, some of them are better quality shoes that I just got on sale. I may try the heel grips, since my feet are a bit wider in front than in back as well.

Sarah, I used to wear Payless all throughout my youth and I paid hardcore for it with some lovely bunions on both my feet. I was just a kid and my feet were still growing, so it might not affect you at all, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Now my feet are really wide at the front and narrow in the back, so I usually end up having to buy a size up to accommodate my forefoot, and then I stick in a heel grip to keep my shoes from slipping off. Maybe you could try that. Besides just keeping your shoes on, they also cushion your ankles so you don't get chaffed.

Thanks for the link Angie. That's fantastic! I've never seen that website before, but I love their selection of shoes, and their prices are great. Guess I'll have to try insoles.

Leather can over stretch Sarah, but I haven't encountered the shoe growth you are speaking of. Would adding an insole to your shoe help after they're a little too big? Try this website for your petite peds.

We've talked about jeans that grow when you wear them, but does anybody else have trouble with their shoes growing? My feet are tiny, as they stopped growing when I was 12. I wore size 6s for years, but recently I've noticed that once I've worn my shoes a few times they are too big and rub up and down on my ankles. The only good solution I've found is to buy my shoes a little tight, so now I buy mostly 5½s and once they are "broken in" they fit my feet fine. Is this just a problem with cheep shoes? I do most of my shoe shopping at Payless because I am hard on shoes and wear them out in a year regardless of price. I can wear out a pair of $20 shoes just as fast as $100 shoes. So I guess what I want to know is 1) am I alone in this? And 2) does anyone know of a place with a large variety of shoes in small sizes 4-5½)?
