The Air Talis look frumpy on you? Hmmmm, have you tried something with an ankle strap detail? Like a Suz said, a T strap? There are some great thong sandals out there with ankle cuffs, but I don't know if that would work. Also maybe a chunky platform sandal that doesn't actually raise your heel more than an inch or so?

Jen, do you mean shoes for summer temperatures or winter?

It sounds as if a lower vamp would probably work better than a higher vamp in terms of figure flattery, but can you take some pics?

Can you manage a 2 inch heel?

What do you think of MaryJane type styles with a strap across? Or perhaps a T strap?

I am quite happy wearing boots with skirts/dresses over my short, lumpy, scarred and thick ankled legs... Often a chunky sandal also works. I would really like to wear dresses and skirts more often... My 1.5 inch wedge sandals, open toe courts (Cole Haan air Talis) etc look too frumpy... My feet/ankle line is so blah that ballet flats look wrong too... Alas I can't do much more than that height in shoes. Any other ideas for shoes. My skirts fall just below my knee...
