Well I decided to order some over the net anyway, just in case. I can return them if I find some better ones in person. I ordered a 36 and a 37 (this is not a hush puppies brand).

Fruitful, I couldn't see the one you linked to that well, but from what I could see if was a little casual for what I was after. I appreciated all your thoughts!
Thanks Suzanne

Hush Puppies are great, but they are longer and wider than most shoes. I own two pairs: one in my supposed size (WAY to big and wide) and the other a size smaller (also starting to get wide...) I do have very narrow feet, so I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem, but won't it help if you size down from your normal size? (Not sure how Australian shoe sizes work) The SA advised the 36, but why don't you try the 35 - it might just fit! (and remember that HP's leather stretches a lot, so even a tight fit will become looser when you wear it out) But why didn’t she offer to find out if one of their other branches don’t have the 36?? Shame - I hate shoe related quandaries!

Anne, just wanted to show you my pride and joy grey crinkle patent maryjanes. I don't have a photo but here's a web link; scroll down, they're called "Pleasure": http://www.naotshoes.com.au/pr.....unt=3#Eden Just wanted to share because they are grey maryjane comfort shoes, and have a dressy detail. No idea if they'd work for your feet though.

Re your edit: Bear in mind I don't know the implications of your size issues. But generally speaking, if you have an exact model in mind and it's a must have, waiting is risky. If you can handle trying out a few different ones, and you don't need them urgently, seems like you'd be okay to wait until you can use your vouchers.

I find boots tend to thin out on the shelves quicker than shoes, too.

Anne, I am 100% with you about not posting finds too soon it would be heartbreaking to lose something that way! There's a lot of things I'm tempted to post about but don't for the same reason.

Shoe-wise, you're a woman after my own heart. I love the maryjanes you posted - and 5-7 cm is my ideal heel height.

I would be very surprised if you couldn't find something similar (but again, I don't know how common your size is - I do know that when I can't find mine, annoyingly I tend to find yours :)).

The main problem seems to be having to make a trip into the city. May I suggest that on the day/day before, you call a few Myers and check that they have your size in a maryjane comfort shoe? Hopefully it will take less legwork then.

I am a bit reluctant to post my actual finds for some of the others in case they are snapped up by lurkers. The main problem is that I have a westfield card and a myer card I want to use but need to go to the city to use them (you can't redeem them online)

Good idea to just ask them Fruitful!

I am after some mary jane heels, but not more than 7cm heel. I want black (possibly patent) grey or metallic, and prefer some sort of ornamentation as these will be my dress up heels (and my ONLY non boots, non sandals heels) I have fairly fussy feet too.

This is the one my shop didn't have at all http://www.hushpuppies.com.au/shoe.aspx?pid=2316. This one they didn't have any in my size http://www.hushpuppies.com.au/shoe.aspx?pid=2269

Best of luck Anne! I don't know what to say about sales and size - I'm a 39-40 so have no idea if 36/37 will be hard to find.

I have a pair of hush puppies that run ENORMOUS! They are an 8 (not Euro sizing for this pair) and plenty roomy. I love them, but I'd normally expect to be a slightly tight fit in an 8.5!

Could you email the online sellers and ask them for the heel measurement? I'm often astounded by how many don't put essential measurements in - some don't think of it until asked.

Just curious what kind of shoes you're after?

I have a few roadblocks in front of getting the heels I am after this australian winter
1. Not all online shoe places put the heel height
2. I tried on a hush puppies at my local shop. It was a 37 and too big. SA said that 36 was very hard to find (none on their system)
3 I have a city shopping trip planned for 2 weeks time. But on the news I see that most shops have already gone on sale. So I wonder if there will be much shoe stock in my size.

edited to add
I guess what I am trying to work out is whether to get something online now, without being able to fit it, and not being able to use my vouchers for it, or if I should hold out for 2 weeks and hope the the shops will still have something in my size.
I HAVE found some things online that look great - just don't know how they will feel on
