If I think shoes aren't comfy enough to wear immediately I tend to start them off slowly before going for a whole day at work. Like I wear them to the movies or out to the shops for a few hours. That way they get broken in a little but I'm not trapped in them for 8 hours if it's just not working out.

Thanks everyone. I think i just need to throw caution to the wind and wear them out! They were £80 boots and i've been loathe to wear them out till they were comfy i've been slipping them on with thick socks all week and they are easier over my arch so i think i will spray in some shoe stretcher spray and wear them to work today, i'll let you know how i get on x

hundreds of years ago, when I was a baton twirler, we would stretch our leather performing shoes with spray - but instead of a stretcher, we would use a couple of pairs of really thick socks and walk around in the shoes. It worked really well for us.

We used to keep some at AT (jn the back for us), but I never tried it, some of the others swore by it, let us know if it works for you...might be a good thing to have on hand:)

I know the spray has worked for my mom... I remember she sprayed the shoes thoroughly and then stuck a water bottle inside the shoe to stretch it. It did the trick!

£10 is ridiculous!

How long depends on how much stretch you need. It can be a day to a week or even more for very wide feet or tight shoes.

You could spray it, wear thick socks (I sometimes wear 2 pairs), and just walk around for 20 minutes or so.

Has anyone had any success with this?
I took my new worker boots to the shoe repair man to get the instep stretched and he said his machine can't do boots! and suggested i try shoe stretcher spray then procceded to attempt to flog me a £10 can of the stuff! Luckily mum had some already at home.
How long does it take to stretch them? are we talking weeks of wear or a couple of hours? x

Edit- just it work just wearing them after spraying or is it best to get one of those shoe stretcher things? x
