I do think that sandal from DSW would be a little sleeker with the skinnies. Wearing them shopping sounds like the best bet. I don't think I would have them hemmed until your have found one or a couple pair of shoes to be sure the length is PPL with the shoes. The have some little stud pin hem things you could put on them for wear in the meantime. I can't put a link in typing on this touchpad though

Sarah, I think you're right. They do look really cute with my bootcuts though. It doesn't matter anyway; I noticed last night that the heel on one of them is damaged! I have to take them back. Grr!!

Glad you like the blazer. It's a cotton pique material, so it's soft and comfy.

BTW, any advice about the pant length is appreciated. They're not hemmed yet (just folded under).

ETA: I think something like this would look nicer with the skinnies. What do you think? http://www.dsw.com/shoe/new+yo.....Ref=SEARCH

ETA: I think I will wear my rolled-under skinnies to the shoe store today (I'll tuck them into my boots so the roll is not visible). Then I'll get a better sense of what works.

to my eye the nude shoes look a bit heavy with the skinny's as shown, i think if they had a little scrunch at the ankle and came down a tad more over the heel (of your foot not the shoe) that would help. i really like the blazer!

Okay, well I'm sure you're all dying to know how my shopping trip went (ha ha). So I bought some wedges, but they're not nude. I couldn't find any nude wedge sandals in my size at all. I did find a pair that are "low contrast," though. They're kind of a camel or a light tan color (they look more yellowish in the photos).

I did not get a chance to go to the tailor, which means you don't have to wait to see a pic of the wedges with the jeans (I folded the extra length underneath).

I also went to H&M and bought a navy blazer (not the same as Clearlyclaire's!).

Pics 1-3: skinnies with wedges
Pic 4: the shoes (they're not quite so yellowish in person, and the ring part is gold-tone metal)
Pic 5: H&M cropped cotton blazer, unbuttoned
Pic 6: Same blazer, buttoned
Pic 7: Blazer from the back

Opinions?? Are the shoes to clunky for the skinnies? I think they look better in person than they do in the photos, but still. Anyway, they sure do look cute with my bootcuts that I went shopping in, lol!

ETA: Here's a link to a better picture of the shoes' actual color (color is "tan"):

great shopping vibes being sent your way here. You seem to have a great sense of what works well on you and I am sure you will rock the skinny's. After years of feeling like my legs were to heavy for this look I have finally realized they really aren't, but it does take a while for your eye and your brain to resync...

Oh, I hope you're having some good luck. It seems like pants and shoes almost need to be purchased together, as *set*. I hope your jeans get hemmed to perfection and you find a good pair of shoes in your size to go with them!

Oodles of luck to you!! I abhor shoe shopping because I have fussy feet and it's difficult to find shoes that are comfy and stylish. I'd love to be able to wear just any 'ol shoe that catches my eye. I hope you find plenty of great options to choose from!

Good luck with finding some great shoes! that is something I always have a huge problem with, since my feet aren't the same size and are in between narrow and wide (this being too wide for some styles and too narrow for the special wide styles)!

Don't be scared of the skinny jeans - I myself prefer straight legs, but I've gotten used to skinnies

Thanks for the well wish, christianne. If you don't like the length on your blue skinnies, have you tried rolling them up to mid-calf? I think I will try that with mine (once they're shortened....I'd have to roll them up like 8 times at this point), but I'm not sure it will work on someone my height. My fantasy low-contrast wedge sandals might make it work though.

Good luck! I just did a huge hunt for oxford type shoes and took weeks to find some (and I wear an 8) so I will pass on some good shopping vibes.

Skinnies are one of those "get adjusted" silhouettes that can take a while - I wear my black skinny jeans quite often but rarely my blue and it could be because the length drives me nuts - you are motivating me to take a look at that.

Good day Ladies,

Today will mark the third weekend in a row that I will be attempting to find shoes for my fussy, size 5.5 feet.

I will also be (finally) taking my dark blue skinnies to the tailor for a hem (they are something like 4 inches too long).

I am posting for some moral support. This is a big day for me. To date, I've only worn skinnies once (I have a black pair that I posted about a couple of weeks ago). However, those skinnies are really more like straight legs, and are annoying to tuck into my boots. Plus, black jeans aren't as versatile. So...this will be a big experiment for me to find out if I will actually wear these pants. I do have some tops that I think I can pair them with, BUT....

No appropriate shoes (except one pair of boots). I need some sandals. Preferably wedges, since I'm short. Preferably nude/beige, preferably t-strap (they're more elongating then ankle straps imho). I wear a 5.5 and have narrow feet, so this will not be an easy day! I plan to look at DSW, which is by far the best shoe store around here (they're usually out of my size and/or don't stock it in the first place, but if I find something close to fitting, I can always order them online).

I also want some flat or wedge loafers to pair with the skinnies. Slip-on shoes rarely fit my narrow feet, though, so this will not be easy either.

Wish me luck!
