Oh good! Thanks for enabling!

Whenever there is a new wow! shoe on the go, like the Birks and the sneakers and all that, and pointy toes, I never really know what is still going okay in the background. I kinda want to ride it until something else takes my fancy. I'm open to that, as I can see that at some point certain styles will start to feel off, but I've not got there yet with oxfords and am still having fun (and comfort) with that form of flats. Also I hope to adopt new styles because they really appeal to me (which I acknowledge will be influenced by fashion around us) and not just because I think I "ought to". I'm having fun with loafers because I found some styles that work for me whether or not they're the "it" loafer.

Alana, GB is Gianni Bini, a Dillard's brand, I think.

I love them both. Don't worry about "trends." The oxford has some longevity, the sneakers will be around for a while.

I think the GB leather will be more wearable into the fall/winter.

Those are interesting, pil. I usually aim for flats unless it is really important for more fundamental style-proportion purpose such as with a dress or for a heeled boot with trousers--meaning, if I'm wearing a sneaker type shoe I'll probably try to keep it flat and use the sneaker trend as a way to update the "flat look"!

Do they have to be flats? Deb had a recent thread with some good looking Nine West wedges, but maybe they are too gearish?

Oxfords are classic (since there are no neon touches a la Cole Haan etc I don't think they look trendy per se, just nice). I vote keep and wear and enjoy.

I *love* the KS sneakers! They look like the perfect vacation shoe. I hope my Nordstrom gets them in as I'd love to try them...

I brought home these GB tan leather oxfords to try out because they really fit well, yet have a slightly refined toe shape, and are a good color and style for jeans, white or blue and for lighter-colored pants, spring-summer-fall. A sort of HEWI since I've tried and rejected a number of nude/tan oxfords. And I still really like oxfords though the trajectory may be downward, so after a year of looking I hated to pass these up. In the right oxford I get a good fit, due to lace-up, and works with ankle pants, which I've been trying due to getting a different silhouette that way, compared to trousers.

Should I lose sleep over whether trending or not, or just march to my own drummer?

Then the combination of the oxford in the KS sneaker appeared--how fun. Has anyone seen these? I think I wish they were buff instead of gold--can't tell just how gold. Of course I could not wear to work even if not gold, except maybe a weekend.

I still prefer trying to keep a more refined shoe silhouette plus comfort and so did not want to go back to the big chunky athletic shoe, even for sporty luxe. Hoping for some hybrids. I'm not even sure why that is, since I need the comfort; maybe because I have given up the white trainer more recently than some, so it feels too soon to go back!
