They are shinier in person, but still kind of subdued, since the shiny scales are printed onto a black suede background. I've worn mine already, with pants and nude knee-high stockings, and I will give a warning: they bled some black dye onto my nude knee-highs, right at the front opening of the shoe. (The knee-highs looked dark there at the end of the day.) I'm not too concerned, because I think they will probably stop doing that after some wears, and I will probably want to wear them with black tights or trouser socks come fall, anyway. They were quite comfy, too. They do fit a good 1/2 size small. Being backless, that wouldn't have caused a huge issue, especially since I wear an 11, so going up a size wasn't possible. The deal-breaker for me was that as I walked around the house, my foot felt like it was 'sloshing around' inside the shoe, which surprised me since I have a wide foot. This movement caused my heel to overhang more, as I felt like I was struggling to keep my foot inside the shoe. </p> <p>Disappointing, as I've been wanting a leopard flat of some sort for a while, but not meant to be with these. I used to have a pair of leopard print smoking shoes that I wore to death and would love to have a fun, printed shoe back in rotation!
