I think the advice to differentiate yourself from the bride is spot on. I did a quick pinterest search and love this color combination, although items shown are too casual. Bonus! The brown leather is big for fall, so you could add something that you can use in the future.

What about the Vine Camuto Eliana cage sandals in coral? I have no idea if they would work for your dress, but they fit the description you offered. (And they are comfortable - I have them in grey.)

It's hard to say without seeing the dress, but I like the idea you mentioned of a coral shoe, or maybe a fuchsia color. And being the matchy matchy person I am I'd get a clutch or bag to match.
You may not be able to add pictures, Is it possible for you to add the dress to the "finds" so that we can see it?

My first thoughts were also those that Rabbit and Shiny have expressed so well. Add colorful or tougher accessories so that the dress won't look bridal. How about metallic shoes in bronze, copper or pewter? Or a tan that will be a deep shade of the cream? Or pink or yellow?

A photo would be helpful, though if new you probably can't post one yet. What color is your hair? Skin tone? Eye color? Etc. Those details can help immensely, as bookending your shoe color with hair color is one strategy that works well. And do you have a link to the dress itself?

Also, what time of day is the wedding & reception? I.e., is it super formal evening deal, or daytime? What will your date be wearing (in case you want to coordinate there)?

How close are you with the bride & groom? I.e., close enough to know what color scheme the bride may have planned? That's another direction to consider - something that complements whatever color the bridesmaids are wearing.

My first thought was along the same lines as rabbit's - my generation had this fashion rule that you do not wear white or cream to a wedding. It took me awhile to get over that. I know it's not so hard-and-fast these days. But my instincts, personally, would be as rabbit suggests: steer away from white shoes, cream shoes, silver shoes, gold shoes... even soft pastels... Angie's white out formula is great, but that would be edging into questionable territory for a wedding, I think. Somewhere in there you need to amp up the contrast to make it UNBridal.

First thing that came to mind was a clutch in a bright color, possibly one that is complementary to whatever the bridesmaid's are wearing (complementary but not an exact match), with leopard print Okala's.

I love the idea of a metallic shoe with the cream lace. I think the ones Gigi suggested would be really pretty.

I like the idea of gold for the shoes too. Angie has these for picks. I haven't tried them myself but wonder if they might be worth a try?

It sounds like a pretty dress. One thought I had if you are planning to wear a cream lace dress to a wedding (and you aren't the bride) is to wear accessories -- shoes, bag, maybe topper or belt, that are very UN-bridal.

So maybe a bright like deep coral or a blue or orange, or black or citron touches for example, and I'd maybe try out leaning slightly more casual rather than dressy (within what is appropriate for the event and works visually).

your dress sounds lovely. and I totally understand about the nude color shoes. I just bought an off white, sort of cream maxi skirt for an event in September, and am returning it as it does not look right with the nude shoes. Rather than try other color shoes, I am returning the skirt, but only because I have ordered another skirt in a better shade. But I am also thinking of gold or a light bronze tone shoe. There are so many shades of neutral that you just have to try them, and also what goes with your skin tones. If you have darker skin, or a tan then the shoes will look different, and maybe lighter ones will work. Also try the Sole society on Angie post a couple of days ago..I am looking at the ones with the gold studs.

I am not a very regular poster here but I lurk a lot and each night before I go to sleep spend at least an hour reading YLF, which I love by the way.
I am looking for some shoe /pocketbook help. I am going to a wedding in August on Long Island NY. I have a cream lace dress with three quarter length sleeves, which comes to just above my knee. I need stuff to go with it. I don't really need jewelry as the dress is "busy with the lace but I need shoes and a clutch or a pocket book. I was thinking of some kind of cage sandal in perhaps a coral or pastel type color. I do have some nude Okalas but the dress is cream and they just look a bit off. I don't want a super high heel either 3 and half inches is the absolute max and that is pushing it ! I saw some on the DSW web site that were super cheap Fergalicious Hazy, but I have to wonder about the comfort level. I'm open to ideas, also thought about a goldish color too. I have very skinny ankles so have to be careful with that aspect of shoes. I'm really not good at putting everything together ! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
