It sounds like they're not making you happy. I would just keep a few pairs—whatever is most versatile, perhaps the Dr Scholls, a pair of flats, and a pair of heels—and sell or donate the rest. They are absolutely flat and I think I only wore them once or twice. The Nickels make me feel a bit like a school marm.</p> <p>Magpie, I think the only ones I've worn in the last 6 months were the penny loafers. The just in case shoes, the Naturalizers, I think I last wore several years ago, to a wedding, or something like that.</p> <p>Laura, I was thinking of keeping the penny loafers for that very reason. I do keep a couple pair of old shoes for specific purposes. In my car I have an old pair of black flats for walking in muddy construction sites and an old pair of sneakers for walking undeveloped lots. I also always keep a pair or two of tired but still somewhat fashionable shoes in my closet for days when I have to show homes in the rain. Everything else has to go.
